Air conditioning near Hale

Air conditioning in Hale, done properly

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be, and we explain the options on the survey. Most enquiries from Hale start with one hot room: a bedroom, a home office or a loft conversion. A single-room split system is often the answer, from £1,200 + VAT.

Where the outdoor unit goes decides how quiet and tidy the job is: we balance airflow, noise, the pipe run and access for future servicing.

Around Hale, many people choose a system that heats as well as cools, which suits rooms the main heating does not reach well, such as a garden room or loft.

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

FAQs for Hale

Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Hale?

That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. Central Hale sits inside the Western Escarpment Conservation Area. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with the local planning authority (for Hale, normally New Forest council).

Is Hale in your area for air conditioning?

Yes. Hale is one of the places we cover. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.

When will I hear back?

We reply to enquiries the same working day. For a breakdown that cannot wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.

The process

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. If a lane or gateway near Hale is tight for a van, let us know and we will plan for it.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets out of the rooms we are working in
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it

Do you need air conditioning in Hale?

Everything that uses electricity in a room ends up as heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even on a mild day.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
  • Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm

Living close to Church of St Mary? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.

Why deal with it now?

Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can typically heat as well, so it earns its keep all year. Waiting rarely makes an air conditioning problem smaller.

The cost depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and what the work involves. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Air conditioning in Hale: local notes

Census 2021 figures found about 82% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Houses normally have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.

With historic houses such as Breamore House about 2.5 miles west, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.

How we price air conditioning

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but every job is priced on its own. The quote depends on:

  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • The brand, model and parts involved
  • The condition of any existing system

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

Simple jobs can often be priced from pictures and some basics. Send what you can of the following:

  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
  • The make and model of the system, from the label
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, call 07833 053749 or email us.
