Common questions in Worthing
How often do you service systems in Worthing?
Usually once a year for homes, more often for busy business systems. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.
Is Worthing in your area for air conditioning servicing?
Yes, Worthing is within the area we cover. To start, ring us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line with a few pictures.
Does my air conditioning need an F-gas leak check?
It depends on the system’s tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e). From 5 to under 50 tCO2e, leak checks are required at least every 12 months, and from 50 to under 500 tCO2e every 6 months. Hermetically sealed systems holding less than 10 tCO2e don’t need them.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and we hold it.
Do you do service contracts for air con?
Yes. With a contract, the frequency and the scope of each visit are written down, at a fixed price agreed with your quote. It suits anyone who would rather not track service dates.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
Air conditioning servicing in Worthing
An annual service is £95–£150 + VAT, and we confirm the figure before we book you in. Larger systems with several indoor units, ducted units or commercial plant are priced on their details. Either way, you know the cost before the engineer arrives. The work covers multi-split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ceiling cassettes, and common reasons people get in touch are systems that haven’t been serviced for a while and weaker cooling than last year.
Servicing around Worthing covers everything from one bedroom unit to whole office systems. Each service covers filters, coils, the condensate drain, electrical checks and a test run.
Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight and each visit is recorded.

Owner checks or an engineer?
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
Looking after it afterwards
So the system stays in good health:
- Check what your manufacturer’s warranty asks of you
- Call about new noises or smells rather than waiting
- Keep plants, bins and stored items away from the outdoor unit
After the service, you get a record of what was done, with the checks carried out and anything we’d recommend. Keep it with the manufacturer’s paperwork so you have the whole history together.
Make sure condensate pipes outside are not crushed, blocked or buried. A pipe that is been knocked or covered can back up into the indoor unit.

What a service looks like in Worthing
At about 2 miles from the coast, Worthing is close enough for sea air to matter. A yearly service matters more near the coast, where salt speeds up corrosion on coils and fixings. Roughly a third of a mile or less from central Worthing, you reach the West Tarring Conservation Area. In the mile around Worthing’s centre, 7 conservation areas have been designated. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 32 within half a mile of the centre, such as Church of St Andrew (grade II*). If a repair turns into a replacement on a listed building or in a conservation area, we check the planning position before changing the outdoor unit. About 55% of homes in Worthing and the neighbourhoods around it date from 1945 to 1972, according to VOA council tax data, and about 60% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. Let us know where the outdoor unit sits and whether a ladder is needed to reach it.
Offices and shops near West Worthing station can have their systems serviced without closing. If you look after a school such as Durrington High School, servicing is easiest in the holidays.

What affects the cost of air conditioning servicing
The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:
- What state the existing equipment is in
- Access, including height, roofs and ladders
- The pipe route between the units
Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
- Any previous service or F-Gas records
- The address and the type of property
Want a quote for air conditioning servicing? Please give us a ring on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and tell us about the job. We will talk you through the options and give you a fixed-price quote before you commit to anything.
What happens on the day
You don’t need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we’ve done. Larger jobs in Worthing can be done in stages, so part of the building stays in use.
- It begins with a few questions about the make, the rooms served and any symptoms.
- Inside, the filters, coil and drain tray of each indoor unit are cleaned.
- The outdoor unit is cleaned and checked, and debris cleared from around it.
- Electrical connections, controls and refrigerant performance are tested.
- We explain what we found and price any repair before it’s done.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property
- Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
Ask for a quote
Every quote starts with a look at the job, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from photos and measurements. Then you get a fixed price so you know the cost before we begin.
Advice
From one of our customers
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
