Our air conditioning service in BN14
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and we’ll reply the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. We are often asked to deal with an old system that needs replacing and expensive direct electric heating, on ducted systems, air-to-air heat pumps and VRF systems.
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before we start so it does not catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
What affects the price in BN14
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a struggling system uses more electricity to do less. If you are unsure, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed price.

Ask for a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.
Local landmarks in Broadwater
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Bohunt School Worthing, The Thomas a Becket pub and Beach House Park. Nearby too are Thomas A Becket First School (1 mile west), Broadwater CofE Primary School (under half a mile west) and St. Mary's Church (less than half a mile south-east). The nearest railway station is Worthing station, about 0.7 miles south. Nearby you will also find Museum of Sussex Folklore (0.9 miles west) and Old Castle (0.8 miles west). Not far away are Widewater Lagoon and Steep Down.
Air conditioning across BN14: local notes
In BN14, we install in places such as Worthing, Broadwater and Salvington and well beyond. Every place on our BN14 list (9 in all) is covered.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps. In the coastal parts of BN14, outdoor units benefit from a sheltered position and regular servicing, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Broadwater: Homes near St. Mary's Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. Plenty of people near Worthing station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.
Rented and managed buildings
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the agreement for who looks after the system. We’re happy to deal with either side and send the records to whoever needs them.
Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.
Looking after your system
So the system stays in good health:
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
- Have the system serviced once a year
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
- Don’t cover or box in the outdoor unit
Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings so you know how to get the best from it.
Set it and leave it. A moderate set temperature cools the room just as well as the lowest one, without the waste, and close windows and doors while it’s cooling.
Honest limits
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that won’t help, so here are the limits:
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Building damp that has a structural cause
Different systems, different jobs
Pipework and condensate drains
Cooling produces water as the air is dried, which the condensate drain takes away. Where it can’t fall naturally to a drain, a condensate pump lifts it, and we plan that on the survey.
Wall-mounted split systems
Single-room split systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork included. Where you sit in that range depends on the pipe run, access and electrics.
Your questions about air conditioning in BN14
Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?
Most of the time. The fuse board is checked on the survey, and any electrical work goes on the quote, and our NICEIC approval covers the installation and certificate.
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
Often, yes, but there are extra steps. You will typically need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route and the lease will say. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Where will you put the outdoor unit?
The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
How do you size the system?
Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, day and night. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
