How we handle air conditioning servicing in Passfield
People in Passfield book a service for all sorts of reasons: a musty smell, weak cooling, water dripping indoors or simply because it’s been a while. Whatever the reason, the visit follows the same thorough checks. The work covers multi-split systems, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems, and the jobs we see most are weaker cooling than last year and systems that need a 6 or 12-monthly leak check.
Several units at a home near Passfield can be serviced in one visit, which keeps it simple.
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Questions from Passfield
How often should air conditioning in Passfield be serviced?
Typically once a year for homes, more often for busy business systems. Check your manufacturer’s warranty terms too, as some of them make regular servicing a condition.
Do you cover Passfield for air conditioning servicing?
We do: Passfield falls inside our working area. Just give us a ring on 07833 053749 with a few details.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. It’s worth checking before booking and we will gladly show you ours.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Does my air conditioning need an F-gas leak check?
It depends on the system’s tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e). At 5 to under 50 tCO2e, it’s at least every 12 months; at 50 to under 500 tCO2e, every 6 months. Hermetically sealed systems holding less than 10 tCO2e don’t need them.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Every visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
How we price air conditioning servicing
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but every job is priced on its own. What we look at:
- The number of rooms, units or zones
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
- The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
Typical ranges are on our prices page, but each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll talk you through it.
Helping us quote
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

What a service looks like in Passfield
About 42 miles out from central London, Passfield is part of the South East area we work across. Passfield House, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 3 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Passfield’s centre. Should a unit ever need replacing on a listed building or in a conservation area, ask us about consent first.
For a school like Mill Chase Academy, maintenance visits can be booked out of term. Spring is a good time for a service, before the system is needed for cooling.

What happens if it’s left?
Check your manufacturer’s warranty conditions before letting servicing lapse. If servicing is one of the terms, a missing service record could matter if you ever need to make a claim. We can go through the terms with you. A system that’s left with a fault, or without a service, typically costs more to run.
No two properties are the same, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.
What you get with us

- An F-Gas certified company, as the law requires
- Listed on Checkatrade
- We reply to enquiries the same working day

The process
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. If a lane or gateway near Passfield is tight for a van, let us know and we will plan for it.
- We start with the basics, such as the brand, the number of indoor units and any symptoms.
- The system is run and checked before anything is opened up.
- We clean the filters and coils and make sure the condensate drains away.
- The wiring, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, plus a leak check on systems large enough to need one.
- You get a service record, with anything that needs attention explained.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Name a contact who can meet us at the agreed time
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
Getting a price
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.
Advice
What air conditioning servicing cannot fix
Air conditioning servicing can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:
- Poor original installation, such as drains without a proper fall
- A system that’s too small for the room it serves
- Heat from large windows, roof spaces or equipment beyond the system’s capacity
If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What the work covers
