Air conditioning servicing near Brooklands

How we handle air conditioning servicing in Brooklands

Whether a leak check is required depends on how much refrigerant the system holds and which refrigerant it is. GOV.UK sets the frequency by the system’s tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e): at least every 12 months from 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 to under 500 tCO2e. We tell you which band your system falls into and carry out the checks it needs. We are often asked to deal with weaker cooling than last year and a musty or damp smell when the unit starts, on wall-mounted split systems, VRF systems and ceiling cassettes.

Outdoor units around Brooklands tend to be close to gardens and hedges, so the outdoor coil can clog with leaves and seeds. Cleaning it is part of every service.

The records are your system’s health record: a dated account of the work and the readings we took. It makes the next visit quicker and any warranty question simpler and it’s worth keeping safe.

Honest limits

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Heat gains the system was never sized for
  • A failed compressor, fan motor or circuit board, which needs a repair
  • A system short of gas because of a leak

If in doubt, phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Multi-split systems
  • Ducted systems

Do you need air conditioning servicing in Brooklands?

When the system cools, water condenses on the indoor coil. Dust sticks to a wet surface, and over time the coil and drain tray can get dirty enough to smell.

Reasons to give us a call include:

  • Warning lights on the indoor unit
  • New noises from the indoor or outdoor unit
  • Air conditioning that is not cooling as well as it did

If you run premises near Weybridge station, ask about servicing several units in one visit.

What to look for in a quote

  • Proof of F-Gas company certification
  • What paperwork you will receive afterwards
  • Whether extra work needs your approval first

How to choose an air conditioning engineer

Brooklands questions

How often do you service systems in Brooklands?

For most homes, once a year. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.

Is Brooklands within the area you cover?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Does my air conditioning need an F-gas leak check?

Under GOV.UK guidance, systems of 5 to under 50 tCO2e need a check at least every 12 months, and 50 to under 500 tCO2e every 6 months. Fitting leak detection lets you double the interval, and we can tell you where your system sits.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before we start, and the area is kept tidy throughout. At the end, we clear up and show you what we have done.

Will servicing keep my manufacturer’s warranty valid?

Warranty terms are set by the manufacturer, not by us. Read the conditions for your brand, as they may include servicing, and keep each service record with the warranty paperwork.

How long does an air conditioning service take?

As a guide, it takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Ducted units in ceiling voids and outdoor units in awkward places can add time and we’ll let you know before the visit.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

What we do, step by step

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes a short visit for one split system, longer for multi-split, ducted or commercial plant. In a place like Brooklands, parking is rarely an issue, but tell us about gates and access to the back of the property.

  1. A date is fixed and the service price confirmed in advance.
  2. Before any cleaning, the system is run so we can see how it behaves.
  3. We clean the filters, coils and fans and clear the condensate drain.
  4. Electrical and refrigerant checks follow, including a leak check if the rules require one.
  5. A final test run follows, then you get the service record.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time

Ask for a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few photos, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Then ring 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

How the job changes from property to property

Condensate drains and pumps

Slime and debris build up in drain trays over time. Cleaning them helps with drips and with musty smells.

Fans and electrics

Electrical connections are checked for tightness and signs of overheating. Loose connections can cause faults that come and go, so this matters.
