Common questions in Avon Castle
Does my air con in Avon Castle need a yearly service?
For most homes, once a year. Business systems may also need F-gas leak checks, at least every 12 months from 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent.
Do you cover smaller places like Avon Castle?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Will servicing keep my manufacturer’s warranty valid?
Each manufacturer sets its own terms. Some may have servicing conditions attached, so check the terms for your system. We’re happy to go through them with you, and our service record shows the work was done.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
Can I have a maintenance contract for my air conditioning?
Yes, and the schedule is set around your system. The price is fixed with your quote, and each visit is recorded.
What accreditations do you have?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

- A refrigerant leak, which needs finding and repairing, not topping up
- Cooling capacity that doesn’t match the space
- Major component failures that call for a repair visit
Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we will tell you honestly.

Common problems we fix in Avon Castle
The outdoor unit lives outside. Leaves, grime and plant growth gather on the fins and around the unit, which makes it harder for the unit to shed or pick up heat.
What we are most often called about:
- No service record for the last year or more
- Humming, rattling or squealing from the system
- Water dripping from the indoor unit
Site managers at schools like St Ives Primary & Nursery School can have the site’s units serviced during a holiday.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
- Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
- What’s in the price and what isn’t
Pricing air conditioning servicing in Avon Castle
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:
- The size of the job
- What kind of system it is
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before any work starts, with VAT shown clearly.
Helping us quote
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:
- The remote or wall controller showing any error

The process
We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. After that, it takes a short visit for one split system, longer for multi-split, ducted or commercial plant. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Avon Castle easier.
- You tell us the brand, the number of indoor units and any symptoms.
- Inside, the filters, coil and drain tray of each indoor unit are cleaned.
- Outside, the coil is cleaned, the fan checked and the area cleared.
- Electrical connections, controls and refrigerant performance are tested.
- Anything we find is explained, with a fixed price if it needs a repair.
Preparing for the visit
- Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
- Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
