When air con fails in Wissenden
About 75% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. A photo of the outdoor unit and its surroundings tells us what access the visit needs. The middle of Wissenden is part of a conservation area. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 13 within half a mile of the centre, such as Ring Cottage (grade II*). If a repair turns into a replacement on a listed building or in a conservation area, we check the planning position before changing the outdoor unit.
For a school like Bethersden Primary School, urgent repairs can be booked right away and bigger work in the holidays. The make, model and error code are the most useful things to tell us.

How it works
We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we let you know if plans need to move. When we arrive, we check the job against the survey or the photos you sent. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes anything from an hour or so to a full day, depending on the fault and the parts. For a village like Wissenden, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.
- Diagnosis comes first: codes, electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant.
- Next, a plain explanation and a fixed price.
- Where a repair doesn’t make sense, you’ll hear it from us, with the alternatives.
- The treatment: the repair itself, with any leak found and fixed before recharging.
- Sign off: prove it works and record the visit.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear access to the fuse board
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property
- Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
How to get a quote
Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, pictures of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, ring us on 07833 053749 or email us.

Wissenden questions
Is Wissenden in your area for air conditioning repair?
Yes, Wissenden is within the area we cover. Just ring us on 07833 053749 with a few details.
Is Wissenden within the area you cover?
Yes. Wissenden is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.
Can you come out for an emergency air conditioning repair?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for breakdowns that cannot wait. Ring 07833 053749 with the make, what’s happening and any code and we will talk you through what happens next.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
Each manufacturer decides. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.
Are you F-Gas certified?
F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. Ask to see proof before you book anyone and we’ll gladly show you ours.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is a legal requirement, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
When it’s something else
We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:
- A supply fault outside the property
- A unit whose parts are no longer made (replacement may be the only option)
- Cooling that falls short because the system is too small
If in doubt, ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.
What the work covers
- VRF systems
- Ceiling cassettes
- Wall-mounted split systems
- Ducted systems
- Heat pumps
- Multi-split systems
Before you call an engineer
Owner care supports servicing; it does not replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Looking after it afterwards
After the visit, a few habits help:
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Only let an F-Gas qualified engineer work on the refrigerant
- Rule out the simple causes first: filter, mode and temperature
If a repair does not make sense, you’ll hear it from us, and explain why. We can quote for a replacement system on the same visit where that is the better answer.
Don’t ignore early signs. Drips, noises, weak airflow and error codes are early warnings and catching it early keeps the repair simpler.
From one of our customers
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
