What happens if it’s left?

R22 systems are a different case. R22 is an ozone-depleting refrigerant and new R22 cannot be used for servicing, which typically makes replacement the sensible route after a refrigerant fault. We explain why and quote for a new system if that is the right answer. Dealing with it now is typically simpler than a breakdown later.

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

How we handle air conditioning repair in Lower Burgate

We treat a faulty system the way a doctor treats a patient: find the cause, put it right and check it’s healthy before we leave. Guesswork costs money, and topping up refrigerant on a system with a blocked filter fixes nothing. Typical jobs include new noises from the system and a unit blowing warm air, across multi-split systems, ducted systems and heat pumps.

Outdoor units in a place like Lower Burgate can be near hedges and fields, and a coil clogged with leaves or seeds is a common cause of weak cooling.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, and we’re happy to talk you through them.

What we do, step by step

If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before any work starts so it does not catch you out. For businesses, we can usually work room by room or zone by zone. On site, it takes a single visit for many faults, while some repairs need a second visit once parts arrive. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Lower Burgate so we arrive with what’s needed.

  1. First, a few questions by phone or email about the brand, the fault and anything shown on the controller.
  2. We diagnose on site, checking the codes, electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant pressures.
  3. Once the cause is found, we explain it and fix the price for the repair.
  4. We repair the fault, and where refrigerant is involved, the leak is found and fixed before recharging.
  5. Before leaving, we run it through its modes and write up what was found and done.

Before we arrive

  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area

Advice

Common questions in Lower Burgate

Is there an emergency air con repair line for Lower Burgate?

The emergency line is open around the clock, and Lower Burgate is one of the places it covers. A diagnosis call-out starts from £75 + VAT, and knowing the brand and the symptoms helps us plan it.

Do you cover smaller places like Lower Burgate?

Yes. Lower Burgate is within the area we cover across London and the South East. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is written up, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.

My air con is showing an error code. What should I do?

Codes differ by brand, and the same code can cover several faults. Send us a photo of the display with the make and model, and we’ll diagnose the fault on site.

What accreditations do you have?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.

Aftercare tips

How well a system lasts depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Check the filter, the mode and the set temperature before calling us
  • Never add refrigerant yourself or let anyone top up without finding the leak
  • If the breaker trips twice, leave it off

If the same symptom comes back, tell us straight away. Describe what’s happening and any error code and we will come back to it.

Clean the filters regularly. Blocked filters cut airflow, which can lead to poor cooling, ice on the coil and drips and the manual shows how to clean them.

What we’re called out for in Lower Burgate

Some faults stop the unit completely: fan motors, boards, interconnecting cables and tripped breakers. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off until an engineer has looked at it.

Reasons to give us a call include:

  • New noises from the system
  • An error code or flashing light on the unit
  • A system that keeps cutting out

For a school like The Burgate School and Sixth Form, urgent repairs can be booked right away and bigger work in the holidays.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved
  • What’s in the price and what is not
  • The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted

Questions to ask before you book

Air conditioning repair in Lower Burgate: the local picture

Census 2021 figures found about 78% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. If the outdoor unit is high up or behind a locked gate, mention it when you book. The Tudor Rose Inn, listed at grade II, is one of roughly 7 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Lower Burgate’s centre. Swapping an outdoor unit on a listed building or in a conservation area may need consent, so we’ll flag it if a replacement is needed.

The rating label on the unit gives the model number, which helps us bring the right parts.

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
