About air conditioning repair in City of London
A sealed system shouldn’t lose refrigerant, so if it’s low, there’s a leak. Topping up without a repair only delays the next breakdown. We find and fix the leak, pressure test, evacuate and recharge to the manufacturer’s charge, then record it in the F-Gas records. The work covers multi-split systems, VRF systems and ducted systems, and common reasons people get in touch are drips from the indoor unit and a fault code on the display.
Each visit follows the same order: check the plan with you, put the dust sheets down, do the work, test what we’ve done and explain it all to you. On site, the work takes as long as the fault needs, from a quick fix to a return visit for parts.
- Tell us the make, the symptoms and any error code, and send a photo of the display if you can.
- We diagnose on site, checking the codes, electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant pressures.
- Once the cause is found, we explain it and fix the price for the repair.
- The repair is carried out, and any refrigerant work is leak tested and recorded.
- Before leaving, we run it through its modes and write up what was found and done.
What you’ll pay
One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before any work starts, and the quote sets out the VAT.

Where we repair in City of London
In City of London, we repair systems in places such as City of London and well beyond. Every place on our City of London list (1 in all) is covered, with a 24/7 emergency line.
Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and City of London sits within it. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.
City of London: For a home or office near London Cannon Street station, tell us the make, model and error code when you call, so we can plan the repair. When cooling fails at a school like Fashion Retail Academy, we can time non-urgent repair work around lessons.
When it’s something else
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- A room that overheats because of the building, such as a lack of shading or ventilation (the system may need help, not a repair)
- A unit whose parts are no longer made (replacement may be the only option)
- A supply fault outside the property
Looking after your system
So the system stays in good health:
- Stop the unit if water is coming through a ceiling
- If there’s ice on the pipes, switch off and let it melt
- If the breaker trips twice, leave it off
- Check the settings and the remote’s batteries first
After the repair, the system is run and checked in every mode it has. We check it’s cooling or heating as it should and that the fault hasn’t left anything else behind and point out anything else we spotted.
Clean the filters regularly. Blocked filters cut airflow, which can lead to poor cooling, ice on the coil and drips, so keep them clean as the manual describes.
Pricing air conditioning repair in City of London
Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
- The size of the job
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.
Helping us quote
You don’t need the technical terms. Just send:
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- The address and the type of property
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.
Why deal with it now?
Leaving a fault seldom makes it go away. A blocked drain becomes water damage, and a slow leak drains the refrigerant until the compressor is working far harder than it should and early diagnosis typically keeps the repair simpler.
What your quote should include
- Exactly what the price includes, from supply and fitting to commissioning
- Whether the electrical work is done by a registered contractor, such as NICEIC approved
- Whether anyone has checked the property or the system first
- What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
Common questions in City of London
Can you still repair R410A air conditioning?
Yes, repairs and recharges on existing R410A systems remain legal. R410A is getting scarcer and dearer to buy as the GB phase-down tightens, so for older systems we compare the cost of a repair with a replacement.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
What accreditations do you have?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. Each visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
How long will you be on site?
Your quote will say how long we expect to be there. As a guide, the work takes a single visit for many faults, while some repairs need a second visit once parts arrive.
Can you repair an R22 air conditioning system?
Servicing with new R22 isn’t allowed, because it depletes the ozone layer. Some non-refrigerant faults can be repaired if parts are available, but a leak normally makes replacement the sensible route. We will set out the options and quote for a replacement where it makes sense.
