About air conditioning in RH11
A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. Common call-outs are for an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers and rooms heated by plug-in heaters, on multi-split systems, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems.
Each visit runs to the same pattern: check the plan with you, protect the area, carry out the job, check the system and explain it all to you. The visit itself takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
- Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
- Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
How we quote
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before work begins.
Why choose AirCon Doctor
- We reply to enquiries the same working day
- A fixed price before any work starts
- 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns
- An F-Gas certified company, as the law requires
Get a fixed-price quote
To help us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few photos, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, phone 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.
Around Broadfield
Typical jobs here are in properties near Target Hill Park, Discovery New School and The New Moon pub and the streets around them. You will also find Cottesmore School (0.7 miles south-west), Seymour Primary School (less than half a mile north) and Christ The Lord (within half a mile north-east). For rail, the closest station is Crawley station, roughly 1.4 miles north-east of the centre. A little further out are Crawley Hospital (1.5 miles north) and Crawley Museum (1.7 miles north-east). Open spaces near Broadfield include Tilgate Lake.
Air conditioning across RH11
In RH11, we install in places such as Crawley, Broadfield and Bewbush and well beyond. Every place on our RH11 list (12 in all) is covered.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. We are F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Broadfield: With historic houses such as Tyes Place about 4.4 miles south-east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. Older streets near Christ The Lord may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
Why deal with it now?
A system that’s the wrong size never works well. An undersized unit runs hard and still can’t keep the room cool; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy. Getting the sizing right at the survey stage avoids both problems.
What your quote should include
- What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
- Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
- Proof of F-Gas company certification
How we price air conditioning
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
- The size of the job
Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Call for a fixed-price quote and we’ll explain each part.
What we need to know
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:
- Your installation or service records
- The address and the type of property
- The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
Every quote starts with a look at the job, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from photos and measurements. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.
System by system
Electrical supply
We check the consumer unit on the survey, so any extra electrical work is on the quote rather than a surprise on the day. Older boards sometimes need more work to take a new circuit and we will tell you if yours does.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. Commercial and VRF systems are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.
When something else is needed
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- Draughts and missing insulation
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
RH11 questions
Do you work on all makes?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.
Does air conditioning work as heating?
Most of the time, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.
Do you cover RH11?
Yes. We work in RH11 and across West Sussex, within the London and South East area we cover. To book, call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we will suggest a schedule with a fixed price. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.
Do you protect the property while you work?
Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before we start, and the area is kept tidy throughout. At the end, we clear up and show you what we have done.
