Air conditioning across RG17: what to expect
Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. Each room is assessed for its size, windows, direction and how it’s used, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain before you get a fixed-price quote. The work covers ducted systems, ceiling cassettes and wall-mounted split systems, and the jobs we see most are too many options and no clear advice and an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life.
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before any work starts, so you can plan around it. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
How we quote
Every job is different, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all make a difference.
Why people in RG17 choose us
- A site survey and a fixed-price quote
- Enquiries answered the same working day
- Listed on Checkatrade
- NICEIC approved for electrical work
Getting a price
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.
Near you in Hungerford
In Hungerford, that means homes and buildings near John O'Gaunt School, The Borough Arms and Hungerford Primary School and the streets around them. There’s a railway station in Hungerford itself: Hungerford station. Open spaces near Hungerford include Kintbury Newt Ponds and Inkpen Hill.
Air conditioning across RG17: local notes
Our air conditioning work across RG17 takes in places such as Hungerford, Lambourn and Kintbury and the smaller places around them. Every place on our RG17 list (26 in all) is covered.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Hungerford: Homes near Church of St Lawrence are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. If you commute from Hungerford station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed.
Before you call an engineer
Owners can handle the everyday basics: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.
Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and call us on 07833 053749 or send an email.
What happens if it’s left?
For homeowners, timing can matter for VAT: installing energy-saving materials in residential accommodation is zero-rated until 31 March 2027, then 5%. HMRC says most air conditioning units are air source heat pumps, but each case depends on the facts, so we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in RG17
The survey or diagnosis tells us what the work involves. We look at:
- What state the existing equipment is in
- How far the pipework has to run, and where
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before we start, with VAT shown clearly.
What we need to know
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:
- A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
VAT is set out clearly on every quote, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. To get one, call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Let and managed properties
We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork and we’ll copy in whoever needs it.
Where a tenant occupies the property but the landlord owns the system, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the records to whoever needs them.
FAQs for RG17
Does servicing affect my warranty?
It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we’ll tell you what the manufacturer expects, and book the service at the interval they recommend.
Do you cover RG17?
Yes. We cover RG17 and the rest of West Berkshire, as part of our area across London and the South East. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
It depends on the rooms and the building. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.
What does it cost to install air conditioning?
Typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT for a single-room split, depending on the room, the access and the pipe route. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, and commercial systems are priced after a survey.
How long does air conditioning installation take?
A single-room system is usually fitted in a day. Multi-room and ducted systems take longer, depending on the pipe routes and access and the quote says how long to expect.
When will I hear back?
The same working day. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, with a fixed price before work starts.
