Our air conditioning service in CM2
Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain, all before the price is fixed. We are often asked to deal with a home office that warms up with screens and equipment and fans and portables that don’t keep up, on VRF systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ducted systems.
The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
Pricing in CM2
Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will go through it with you.
Why choose AirCon Doctor

- Fixed-price quotes after a survey or pictures
- NICEIC approved electrical contractors
- Diagnosis first, then a fixed price
Get a fixed-price quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Air conditioning across CM2: local notes
Across CM2, from Chelmsford, Moulsham and Springfield to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote.
We are based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, CM2 included. Every job starts with a site survey or pictures, then a fixed-price quote.
Moulsham: Hylands, about 1.7 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. Close to Chelmsford station? A small study or box room used for work can normally be cooled with a single indoor unit.
When something else is needed
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
- Building damp that has a structural cause
What the work involves, system by system
Electrical supply
Most systems need their own circuit from the consumer unit. We’re NICEIC approved, so we fit and certify the circuit ourselves and that covers the Part P side.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Bigger systems in buildings come with extra duties, such as a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange and prepare for it.
Pricing air conditioning in CM2
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
- How many units are involved
- The equipment or parts the job needs
- What state the existing equipment is in
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is looked at first, and the price is agreed before any work starts.
What to send for a quote
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- Where the property is and what kind of building it is
Every quote starts with a look at the job, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from photos and measurements. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.
Aftercare tips
Looking after the system is mostly common sense. Our tips:
- Report drips, noises or error codes straight away
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Let filters dry fully before you put them back
- Don’t cover or box in the outdoor unit
The filters are the one part you will look after yourself, so we show you how. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Do not ignore small changes. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault and catching it early keeps the repair small.
CM2: your questions answered
How soon will you get back to me?
The same working day. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.
Is the equipment covered by a warranty?
Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
Each manufacturer decides. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.
