Our air conditioning service in BN24
We approach an installation much as a doctor approaches a patient: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. The sign-off includes testing every mode, showing you the controls and handing over the F-Gas records. The work covers ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and multi-split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in and rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night.
The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we let you know if plans need to move. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. After that, it takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
Pricing in BN24
The cost depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, the access and the parts and time the job needs. We give you a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

Air conditioning across BN24
In BN24, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units aren’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
BN24 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote. In the coastal parts of BN24, outdoor units benefit from a sheltered position and regular servicing, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Stone Cross: Michelham Priory (roughly 4.8 miles north-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Older streets near St Luke's Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
Leave it or put it right?
New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088.
Comparing quotes
- Whether the quote is a fixed price
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
- If the quote is based on a survey, pictures or a diagnosis
- How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
What affects the quote in BN24
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but every job is priced on its own. The quote depends on:
- The condition of any existing system
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
- What kind of system it is
- Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
No two properties are the same, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.
Helping us quote
Simple jobs can often be priced from pictures and some basics. Useful things to send:
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
- The address and the type of property
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.
Common problems we fix in BN24
Bedrooms that are too warm at night are a frequent reason for a call. An open window does not always cool a bedroom that has warmed up all day, particularly when there’s no breeze.
Common reasons people call us are:
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
- Rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night
- A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
When something else is needed
In fairness, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)
FAQs for BN24
What accreditations do you have?
We hold F-Gas company certification, which the law requires for any business working on refrigerant. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need and the fixed price is built on it.
Does air conditioning work as heating?
Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, 24/7. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
Do you work on all makes?
We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we will take it from there.
