Air source heat pumps across Marlow Bottom

Leave it or put it right?

For eligible off-gas homes on oil or LPG, an extra £1,500 is on offer until March 2027. If that applies to you, it’s worth asking about sooner rather than later. Waiting rarely makes an air conditioning problem smaller.

Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered, and you will get one fixed price.

How we handle air source heat pumps in Marlow Bottom

Until 31 March 2027, a heat pump installed in residential accommodation carries 0% VAT, with 5% from 1 April 2027. This is HMRC’s energy-saving materials relief, which applies to homes rather than businesses, and for air-to-air systems we confirm the VAT on your quote. Please treat this as general information rather than tax advice. Common call-outs are for ageing boilers that will need replacing and finding a place for the outdoor unit, across underfloor heating, homes heated by oil, LPG or gas and hot water cylinders.

In a place like Marlow Bottom, some homes are listed, and permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings, so we check consent first.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

Heat pumps in Marlow Bottom: local notes

The Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures date about 46% of homes across Marlow Bottom and its surrounding area to the post-war years, 1945 to 1972, and the 2021 Census found about 87% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Homes of that age often have cavity walls that may or may not be insulated, which the survey checks. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these. Historic England lists about 3 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Marlow Bottom, including Hill Farmhouse (grade II). So the heat pump survey asks two extra questions here: is the home listed, and is it inside a conservation area?

With Harleyford Manor about 2.8 miles south-west, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump. If your home is one of the older properties near St Mary the Virgin, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

FAQs for Marlow Bottom

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Marlow Bottom?

Marlow Bottom is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Will you come out to Marlow Bottom?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes. Each visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.

Will you make a mess?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

Companies working on equipment that contains F gas must be certified by an approved body, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.

Which brands do you work with?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

How soon will you get back to me?

On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, with a fixed price before work starts.

How the visit works

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Seeing the property in pictures first means the trip to Marlow Bottom can be planned properly.

  1. First, a chat about the property and your goals for the heating.
  2. We survey for heat loss and look at radiators, cylinder space and outdoor unit options.
  3. We explain which type of heat pump suits the home and whether a grant could apply.
  4. The system is installed and connected to the controls.
  5. The job ends with commissioning, the MCS certificate and a walk through the controls.

How to prepare

  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go

Get a fixed-price quote

Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, photos of the rooms or units, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

Advice

Safe owner checks

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

What affects the quote in Marlow Bottom

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:

  • What kind of system it is
  • How many units are involved
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will go through it with you.

Asking for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • The rating plate or label on any existing unit
  • Your installation or service records

Every quote starts with a look at the job, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.

From one of our customers

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
