After we have gone
Aftercare is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Keep radiators clear
- Read the manufacturer’s warranty terms for your brand
- Find out the grant position at the survey
Should you have questions after the install, call us on 07833 053749 or send an email and we’ll look into it. A yearly service is a good habit.
A well-insulated home helps a heat pump, as lower heat loss means the system has less to do.
Air source heat pumps in Launton
Installing an air source heat pump in a home is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027, then 5%. That follows HMRC Notice 708/6, and it does not apply to businesses, and for air-to-air systems we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice. The work covers air-to-water heat pumps, air-to-air heat pumps and underfloor heating, and the jobs we see most are an oil, LPG or gas boiler near the end of its life and no space for a hot water cylinder.
If your home in or near Launton is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, an extra £1,500 is available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027, on top of the £7,500.
We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Air source heat pumps around Launton
The last census (2021) found about 61% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these. About 23 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Launton, Church of St Mary (grade I) among them. That affects heat pumps: listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit where the outdoor unit can go under permitted development. Where necessary, we check with the planning team at Cherwell council, which typically handles Launton.
Sizing comes from the heat each room loses on a cold day, not from the size of the old boiler. Period properties close to Church of St Mary can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.

What happens on the day
The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: look, put right and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, and that takes several days for an air-to-water system with a new cylinder, less for an air-to-air system. Rural lanes and tight entrances are worth mentioning before a visit to Launton.
- First, a chat about the property and your goals for the heating.
- A survey covers heat loss, radiators, hot water and where the outdoor unit could sit.
- We recommend air-to-water or air-to-air and check the grant position.
- We install the heat pump and connect it up.
- The job ends with commissioning, the MCS certificate and a walk through the controls.
Before we arrive
- Name a contact who can meet us at the agreed time
- Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
- Let us know where we can park and unload

What owners can safely do
Owner care supports servicing; it does not replace it. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
When something else is needed
We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:
- Disconnecting or servicing a gas boiler
- Tax advice on your own circumstances
- Draught-proofing and insulation upgrades
If in doubt, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll say what we think.

FAQs for Launton
Is Launton within the area you cover?
Yes. Launton is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.
Is the heat pump grant available in Launton?
Launton is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and isn’t an add-on to a boiler. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.
Do you protect the property while you work?
Protection goes down first: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
Will I need planning consent for an air source heat pump?
In England, many air source heat pumps on houses can be permitted development, if the conditions are met. These include an outdoor unit of no more than 1.5 m³, compliance with MCS 020(a), not being used solely for cooling and not being within the curtilage of a listed building.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and the engineers need their own qualifications. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
How much time does a heat pump install need?
An installation takes a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. We confirm the timing after the survey, so give us a ring on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form to arrange one.
From one of our customers
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
