Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in East End

Every installation starts with a heat loss survey. That tells us how much heat the home needs, room by room so the system is sized to match. Sizing by rule of thumb is not good enough. The work covers underfloor heating, air-to-water heat pumps and hot water cylinders, and common reasons people get in touch are moving away from fossil-fuel heating and not knowing whether a grant applies.

Older and listed homes in villages like East End need extra care, because permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, so we check consent first.

Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. Whatever the brand, the manufacturer’s terms are explained on your quote.

Let and managed properties

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements and we’ll come back with a fixed-price quote.

East End: your questions answered

Will you come out to East End?

Yes. East End is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in East End?

Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including East End, if they qualify. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and isn’t an add-on to a boiler. The installer applies, and we’re MCS certified.

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

Are you F-Gas certified?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we are an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes, every time. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need and the fixed price is built on it.

What’s the price of a heat pump installation?

For air-to-water, it’s £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes) before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. Air-to-air systems are priced after a survey, with the VAT confirmed on your quote.

How it works

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with sheets down and mess cleared as we go. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. On site, it takes several days for an air-to-water system with a new cylinder, less for an air-to-air system. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to East End so we arrive with what’s needed.

  1. We talk through your home, your current heating and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. The survey measures heat loss room by room and looks at radiators, hot water and the best spot for the outdoor unit.
  3. A fixed-price quote follows, setting out the system, any grant that applies and the VAT.
  4. Fitting day: the outdoor unit is placed, the indoor side connected and the controls set up.
  5. Commissioning, MCS certification and a handover of the controls finish the job.

Preparing for the visit

  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Let us know where we can park and unload
  • Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go

Get a fixed-price quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Air source heat pumps around East End

At about 2 miles from the coast, East End is close enough for sea air to matter. Coastal sites are worth mentioning at the survey, as salt air affects the outdoor unit and its fixings. About 87% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder.

If your home is listed, like Castle House about 3.1 miles south-west, listed building consent comes before any heat pump work.

What we are called out for in East End

A common reason is wanting to stop burning gas, oil or LPG. With a heat pump, the heat comes from the air outside and the system runs on electricity, which is why it fits that aim.

The things we’re asked about most are:

  • Comparing heat pump types
  • Plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump
  • Not knowing whether a grant applies

If your home is one of the older properties near Church of St Michael and All Angels, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether extra work needs your approval first
  • Exactly what the price includes, from supply and fitting to commissioning
  • If the quote is based on a survey, photos or a diagnosis
