Air source heat pumps for Droxford

Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in Droxford

A heat pump takes heat from the outside air and moves it into your home, using electricity to drive the process. The technology is close to air conditioning, which is why we install both and the Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, radiator systems and homes heated by oil, LPG or gas, and the jobs we see most are plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump and checking eligibility for a heat pump grant.

For a home around Droxford that’s off mains gas and heated by oil or LPG, an extra £1,500 is available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Droxford questions

Do you cover smaller places like Droxford?

Yes. Droxford is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Is the heat pump grant available in Droxford?

Droxford is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. The grant is £7,500 for an air source (air-to-water) heat pump and £2,500 for an air-to-air system that replaces the existing fossil-fuel heating. The installer applies, and we are MCS certified.

How long will it take to install a heat pump?

It takes a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. The cylinder, the radiators and the pipework make the biggest difference, and we confirm the timing with your quote.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

How much does an air source heat pump cost?

Air-to-water systems are £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before any grant. Your price depends on the survey, the emitters and the hot water, and you get a fixed-price quote.

Should I choose air-to-water or air-to-air?

Air-to-water replaces the boiler for heating and hot water, while air-to-air heats and cools rooms, and we help you choose. We install both types.

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

You do not need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we’ve done. We plan the trip to Droxford around you.

  1. We find out about your home and the heating you have now.
  2. A heat loss survey is carried out, room by room.
  3. The design covers the heat pump, emitters, hot water and outdoor unit.
  4. You get a fixed price, with any grant and the VAT set out.
  5. We install, commission and register the system under MCS.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

What happens if it’s left?

From 1 April 2027, VAT on heat pumps in homes rises from 0% to 5%. It’s a date to bear in mind when planning alongside your own plans for the property. A system that is left with a fault, or without a service, usually costs more to run.

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we look at the job first, from pictures or on a survey, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

Air source heat pumps around Droxford

Droxford’s centre is no more than about a third of a mile from the Droxford Conservation Area. In the mile around Droxford’s centre, 2 conservation areas have been designated. Church of St Mary and All Saints, listed at grade I, is one of roughly 27 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Droxford’s centre. That affects heat pumps: listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit where the outdoor unit can go under permitted development. Where needed, we check with Winchester City council, usually the planning authority here. About 83% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder.

Every heat pump design starts with a room-by-room heat loss calculation. Older homes near Church of St Mary and All Saints may need extra checks for planning and heat loss before a heat pump is designed.
