When to call us in Blackmore End

Many enquiries start with a question about the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Whether you can get the grant depends on your home and the scheme conditions and we confirm it before you go ahead.

Customers typically contact us when they notice something like this:

  • Finding a place for the outdoor unit
  • Radiators that may be too small for a heat pump
  • Deciding which kind of heat pump suits the home

Period properties close to St Peter can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.

Before booking anyone

  • Which VAT rate the quote uses, and why
  • Whether the quote is a fixed price
  • Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications

Choosing an air con installer

Air source heat pumps in Blackmore End, done properly

Hot water from an air-to-water system is stored in a cylinder. Homes with a combi boiler may not have a cylinder, so finding space for one is part of the survey. Air-to-air systems don’t heat hot water, so you will need another way to do that. If the problem is radiators that may be too small for a heat pump and checking eligibility for a heat pump grant, we can help.

Older and listed homes in villages like Blackmore End need extra care, and permitted development does not cover listed buildings, so we check consent first.

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Why act early in Blackmore End

For eligible off-gas homes on oil or LPG, an extra £1,500 is on offer until March 2027. If that applies to you, it’s worth asking about sooner rather than later. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a struggling system uses more electricity to do less. If you are not sure what’s needed, phone 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed price.

What you get with us

  • Covering London and the South East
  • MCS certified heat pump installers
  • Leading brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu
  • We diagnose before we treat

What air conditioning will not do

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what air source heat pumps will not do:

  • A grant for a home that doesn’t meet the scheme rules
  • Tax advice on your own circumstances
  • Draught-proofing and insulation upgrades

Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 or send an email and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Underfloor heating
  • Air-to-water heat pumps
  • Radiator systems
  • Hot water cylinders

The process

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first, so you can plan around it. For businesses, we can usually work room by room or zone by zone. On site, it takes several days for an air-to-water system with a new cylinder, less for an air-to-air system. Visits to Blackmore End are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We talk through your home, your current heating and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. We survey the home room by room for heat loss, and check the emitters, hot water and outdoor unit position.
  3. A fixed-price quote follows, setting out the system, any grant that applies and the VAT.
  4. Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
  5. We commission the heat pump, complete the MCS paperwork and talk you through the controls.

How to prepare

  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them

Get a fixed-price quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from pictures and measurements. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.

Advice

Blackmore End questions

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Blackmore End?

Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Blackmore End, if they qualify. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and isn’t an add-on to a boiler. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Is Blackmore End within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

Will I need planning consent for an air source heat pump?

Many installations on houses in England fall under permitted development, subject to the rules. Listed buildings and their curtilages are excluded, and listed building consent is a separate matter. We check what applies to you.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

What does F-Gas certified mean?

Companies working on equipment that contains F gas must be certified by an approved body, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.

Will my radiators work with a heat pump?

It depends on each radiator and the room it heats. Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures, so radiators give out less heat, and the survey checks each one.
