Air source heat pumps for Ascott Earl

Air source heat pumps in Ascott Earl

Air-to-water heat pumps heat your hot water through a cylinder. Homes with a combi boiler may not have a cylinder, so finding space for one is part of the survey. With air-to-air, hot water has to come from something else. If the problem is questions about listed buildings or conservation areas and deciding which kind of heat pump suits the home, we can sort it out.

For a home around Ascott Earl that is off mains gas and heated by oil or LPG, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump, on top of the £7,500.

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Safe owner checks

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

The process

Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we show you what we’ve done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Somewhere like Ascott Earl, it helps to know about lanes, gates and where to park.

  1. Step one is understanding the house, how it’s heated today and what you’d like to change.
  2. A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
  3. You get a fixed-price quote, with any grant you are eligible for and the VAT explained.
  4. Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
  5. Once it’s running correctly, the MCS certificate is issued and we show you the settings.

How to prepare

  • Let us know where we can park and unload
  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go

Advice

Questions from Ascott Earl

Is the heat pump grant available in Ascott Earl?

Ascott Earl is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. Whether your home qualifies, and for how much, depends on the type of heat pump and the heating it replaces. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Will you come out to Ascott Earl?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.

How much does an air source heat pump cost?

Air-to-water work is in the £8,000–£16,000 range (0% VAT on homes), with any grant still to come off. The heat pump size, radiator changes and the cylinder decide where in that range you are, and air-to-air systems are priced after a survey.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in Ascott Earl and across Oxfordshire. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Are you F-Gas certified?

We hold F-Gas company certification, which the law requires for any business working on refrigerant. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.

Should I choose air-to-water or air-to-air?

Air-to-water replaces the boiler for heating and hot water, while air-to-air heats and cools rooms. The survey helps decide. Both are part of what we install.

Heat pumps in Ascott Earl: local notes

About 80% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder. About 26 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Ascott Earl, Manor House (grade II*) among them. Where a home is affected, the outdoor unit position is settled with West Oxfordshire council, normally the planning authority here before the heat pump design is finished.

If your home is near Ascott-Under-Wychwood station and heated by a gas boiler, an air-to-water heat pump can replace it where the survey shows it suits. Historic houses such as Minster Lovell Hall, about 4.7 miles south, are a reminder that listed homes need consent before a heat pump goes in.

Keeping the system healthy

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Diary the next service
  • Look at insulation alongside the heat pump
  • Use the settings explained at handover

Once commissioned, we register the installation with MCS and give you the certificate. Keep it with the manufacturer’s paperwork for future reference.

Have the system serviced regularly. Your manufacturer’s warranty terms may say something about servicing.

Pricing air source heat pumps in Ascott Earl

Typical ranges are on our prices page, but every job is priced on its own. The quote depends on:

  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed

No two properties are the same, so we price each one individually. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all make a difference.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:

  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on

Getting a quote is straightforward. Call or email with a few details and we will come back to you the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.

From one of our customers
