What affects the quote in Tatsfield
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but every job is priced on its own. The quote depends on:
- What electrical work the job needs
- The number of rooms, units or zones
- The pipe route between the units
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before we start.
Asking for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to have:
- Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
- The address and the type of property
Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, a few pictures, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, ring us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Tatsfield
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Send a few pictures of the rooms and the outside walls when you call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk, and we will reply the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, in Tatsfield it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.
New circuits are done by our NICEIC approved electricians, so there’s no separate electrician or building control visit to arrange.
Space outside is often tight in Tatsfield, as in much of London, which means a rear wall bracket, a flat roof or a balcony is often the best spot for the outdoor unit. We look at noise towards neighbours and windows as well as looks, and we plan the pipe route so it’s as short and tidy as the building allows.
For a fault on a system that may still be under warranty, send us the make, model and installation date. We will explain how the manufacturer’s terms are likely to apply before anything chargeable is done.

How the visit works
Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. The more we can see beforehand, the smoother the visit to Tatsfield will be.
- First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
- Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
- Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property
Ask for a quote
Quotes don’t take long. Call or email with a few details and we will come back to you the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.
Advice
How the job changes from property to property
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.
Ducted systems
Ducted systems need space for the unit and the ductwork, and access for servicing. The survey confirms whether there’s room.
Air conditioning in Tatsfield: the local picture
About 56% of homes in and around Tatsfield date from 1945 to 1972, according to VOA council tax data. Homes of that age usually have cavity or solid brick walls, and we check which before planning the pipe route. For a London home, we plan the outdoor unit position, the pipe route and any approvals before the day.
If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St Mary the Virgin, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. Titsey Place (roughly 1.4 miles south-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.

Why it’s worth doing now in Tatsfield
Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg can’t use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088. Getting the work done in Tatsfield before summer avoids the busiest weeks.

Tatsfield questions
Is Tatsfield in your area for air conditioning?
Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Tatsfield is part of that. Tell us a little about the job and we will take it from there.
Do I need permission to put air conditioning in my flat in Tatsfield?
Normally, yes, though leaseholders normally need the freeholder’s agreement. We look at where the outdoor unit could go, such as a balcony, flat roof or rear wall, and write it up for the freeholder or agent.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we will agree what happens next.
Are you F-Gas certified?
As the law requires for refrigerant work, we are an F-Gas certified company. We’re also NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and Checkatrade members.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
It depends on the rooms and the building. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we will tell you what the manufacturer expects, and book the service at the interval they recommend.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Glazing, orientation, the roof and what goes on in the room all affect it and the survey covers each of them.
From one of our customers
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
