Air con installers in Ripe

Across Ripe, every installation follows the same steps: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. A lot of the calls we get from Ripe are about one room that is too hot to sleep or work in. A single-room split system is often the answer, from £1,200 + VAT.

Planning permission is not usually needed for a house if the unit qualifies as permitted development, but listed buildings, conservation areas and flats need more care: we tell you at the survey if it applies.

Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Ripe. More often it’s the walls, the electrics and the length of the pipe run that need thinking about.

Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. Whatever the brand, the manufacturer’s terms are explained on your quote.

Leave it or put it right?

Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.

No two properties are the same, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.

Pricing air conditioning in Ripe

The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • Whether the existing supply is suitable
  • Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
  • What state the existing equipment is in

One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. The price is fixed before any work starts, and the quote sets out the VAT.

Asking for a quote

A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:

  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
  • Any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display

Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it on the quote. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749.

The process

Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we’ve done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Ripe.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Advice

Common questions in Ripe

Do you cover Ripe for air conditioning?

We do: Ripe falls inside our working area. Just call 07833 053749 or drop us a line with a few details.

Do you cover smaller places like Ripe?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes. Each visit is written up, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. File them with the system’s paperwork.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and tell you why.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. It’s worth checking before booking, and we’re happy to show ours.

How long will the installation take?

Allow about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.

System by system

Electrical supply

The fuse board is looked at during the survey, so any extra electrical work is on the quote rather than a surprise on the day. Older boards sometimes need more work to take a new circuit, and we explain why if so.

Outdoor unit positions

The outdoor unit can go on a wall bracket, on the ground or on a flat roof, whatever suits the building and the route. It needs space around it to breathe and for an engineer to work on it.

Air conditioning in Ripe: the local picture

Central Ripe is inside the Ripe Conservation Area. In the mile around Ripe’s centre, 2 conservation areas have been designated. The Parish Church of St John the Baptist, listed at grade I, is one of roughly 18 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Ripe’s centre. None of this rules air conditioning out. It just means the planning position is checked before anyone suggests a spot for the outdoor unit. About 70% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have space for the outdoor unit, and several rooms can share one on a multi-split.

Around The Parish Church of St John the Baptist, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. With historic houses such as Charleston Farmhouse about 2.3 miles south-west, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.

What a customer said

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
