Air conditioning in Nursling

How we handle air conditioning in Nursling

Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just give us a ring on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you will hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Most split systems we fit in Nursling are reversible: the Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes called air conditioning, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.

Planning permission is not typically needed for a house if the unit qualifies as permitted development, but listed buildings, conservation areas and flats need more care: we tell you at the survey if it applies.

Around Nursling, older cottages and newer houses can be very different to work on. Thick walls, low ceilings and beams need care with pipe routes, and a listed home needs consent before anything is fixed to it.

Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight and each visit is recorded.

How we price air conditioning

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but every job is priced on its own. The quote depends on:

  • The pipe route between the units
  • The brand, model and parts involved
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders

A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You’ll have a fixed price before we start, and the quote sets out the VAT.

What to send for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:

  • A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Nursling questions

Does sea air affect air conditioning in Nursling?

It can. Nursling is within about 2 miles of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. We site outdoor units out of the worst of the sea wind where possible and can suggest models with corrosion protection where the manufacturer offers it.

Will you come out to Nursling?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards before we leave.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes, on every job. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, and repairs and services get a record of the work.

How do you size the system?

It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Glazing, orientation, the roof and what goes on in the room all affect it, and we take them all into account on the survey.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so check the terms or ask us. Keep every service record either way.

How long will the installation take?

It takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.

How the visit works

The first job on site is protection: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer, and we clear up before we go. In a place like Nursling, parking is rarely an issue, but tell us about gates and access to the back of the property.

  1. You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Move furniture away from the wall where we will be working

Getting a price

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we’ve looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To start, phone 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

When something else is needed

We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work cannot put right:

  • Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
  • A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators

Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Where we work

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Multi-split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Wall-mounted split systems

Homes in Nursling and air conditioning

The coast is only about 2 miles from Nursling. Some manufacturers offer anti-corrosion coated coils for coastal sites, and we’ll tell you if the model you choose has that option. About 76% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). Houses normally have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.

Older streets near Lord's Hill Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.

When to call us in Nursling

Bedrooms that are too warm at night are a frequent reason for a call. Once a bedroom has soaked up heat during the day, opening a window may not bring the temperature down far enough, especially on a still night.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
  • An old system that needs replacing
  • Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient

South Stoneham House (roughly 4 miles east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.

Before you book anyone

  • Whether the price is fixed or an estimate
  • What paperwork you’ll receive afterwards
  • Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
