Air conditioning installation in Fitzrovia, Greater London
Air conditioning across Fitzrovia and nearby, from a site survey or diagnosis to sign-off and a fixed price agreed before any work starts.
- An ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- An office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers
When something else is needed
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what air conditioning won’t do:
- Draughts and missing insulation
- A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
Not sure which it is? You can call 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Air con installers in Fitzrovia
A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. When someone in Fitzrovia asks us for air con, the first questions are normally price and who will fit it. We publish typical prices and do the refrigerant work as an F-Gas certified company.
Across London, and in Fitzrovia too, a lot of air conditioning goes into flats and terraces rather than detached houses. So the first questions are where the outdoor unit can sit, how the pipes get to it and whose permission is needed. A freeholder or managing agent often has a say in a flat, so we write up the proposed positions for them to see.
Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order, and every service is written up.

What an install looks like in Fitzrovia
VOA council tax data put about 38% of homes in Fitzrovia and the neighbourhoods around it before 1919, and about 95% of households live in flats, according to Census 2021 figures. Older homes often have solid walls, which take longer to core drill, so we plan pipe routes carefully and keep them as discreet as we can. For a flat, we look at balconies, flat roofs and rear walls for the outdoor unit, and the lease often needs checking first. For a London home, we plan the outdoor unit position, the pipe route and any approvals before the day.
If you commute from London Euston station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed. Handel Hendrix House (roughly 0.8 miles south-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.

Owner checks or an engineer?
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
The process
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. On site, the work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. Some blocks in Fitzrovia need contractor details in advance, so tell us what your building needs.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
- Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
- Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.
Before we arrive
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them
- Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property

Keeping the system healthy
A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Do not cover or box in the outdoor unit
- Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
- File the paperwork with the manual
The filters are the one part you will look after yourself, so we show you how. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, following the manual, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, which costs you more to run.
Fitzrovia: your questions answered
Can you do air conditioning in Fitzrovia?
Yes, Fitzrovia is within the area we cover. Just give us a ring on 07833 053749 or use the quote form with a few details.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Fitzrovia?
The answer turns on the property and where the outdoor unit would sit. Central Fitzrovia sits inside the Fitzroy Square Conservation Area. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and is not used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof isn’t allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask Camden council, which is usually the planning authority for Fitzrovia.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
Companies working on equipment that contains F gas must be certified by an approved body, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It means the refrigerant in your system is handled legally.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, day and night. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we will advise on what to do next.
Is the equipment covered by a warranty?
Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?
We agree it with you on the survey. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
