Need air conditioning in Crosspost?

How we handle air conditioning in Crosspost

Any installation we do in Crosspost follows the same process as everywhere else we work: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. Air con, air conditioning, a split system: whatever you call it, in Crosspost it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.

New circuits are done by our NICEIC approved electricians, so the electrical paperwork comes with the installation.

For a home in or near Crosspost, an air-to-air system can cool in summer and heat in the cooler months, which suits rooms the main heating does not reach well, such as a garden room or loft.

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Air conditioning in Crosspost: the local picture

The last census (2021) found about 60% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Houses usually have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.

Ockenden Manor (roughly 3.1 miles north-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Homes near St Mary Magdalene's Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

Crosspost is about 4 miles north-west of Burgess Hill, in West Sussex. From the centre of Crosspost to the outskirts, our engineers cover air conditioning, from small jobs to large ones. Across West Sussex, we cover 371 places, and Crosspost is one of them.

The closest recent job we can point to from Crosspost was on High Street, Hurstpierpoint (BN6), about 4 miles south: installing a Daikin multi-split system serving two treatment rooms, the reception and the waiting area. See the job

All of RH17 is within our area, from busy streets to back roads. If you need air conditioning at a property on Cowfold Road and Chapel Road or a nearby road, we can help. Close to Crosspost, our area also takes in Bolney (1 mile north-east), Twineham Green (1 mile south), Twineham (2 miles south), Wineham (2 miles south-west) and Kent Street (2 miles west). Within a short drive, we also cover Crawley (9 miles north), Horsham (7 miles north-west), Worthing (14 miles south-west) and Haywards Heath (5 miles east).

Looking after it afterwards

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
  • Avoid setting it far colder than you need
  • Never run the system with the filters out

The filters are the one part you will look after yourself, so we show you how. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.

Have the system serviced once a year. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early and keeps the warranty paperwork right where servicing is a condition.

Common questions in Crosspost

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Crosspost?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Around 10 listed entries sit within 0.5 miles of central Crosspost. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to Mid Sussex council, which is usually the planning authority for Crosspost when it matters.

Is Crosspost within the area you cover?

Yes. Crosspost is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Are you F-Gas certified?

We’re an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.

Does air conditioning work as heating?

Most of the time, yes: modern splits are typically heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we’ll tell you what the manufacturer expects and stick to the interval they set.

How we price air conditioning

Typical ranges are on our prices page, and your quote is built on your job. The quote depends on:

  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • What electrical work the job needs

What you pay depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, the access and the parts and time the job needs. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Asking for a quote

What to send for a quote:

  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
  • The rating plate or label on any existing unit
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

The process

Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. The visit takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Crosspost easier.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
  2. The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

How to prepare

  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits

Getting a price

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because every property is different. Once we’ve looked at the job, from pictures or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To start, phone 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

When it’s something else

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
  • Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
  • A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation

If you are not sure, just ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
