About our air conditioning in Burwash

Across Burwash, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. Most split systems we fit in Burwash are reversible: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.

Most installations here are a wall-mounted indoor unit, a short pipe run through the wall and an outdoor unit on the back or side of the property, with the drain run planned so it never drips where it shouldn’t.

Homes around Burwash normally have room outside for an outdoor unit. The questions are more often the age of the walls, the electrics and how far the pipes need to run.

If a fault appears while the equipment is under the manufacturer’s warranty, tell us the make, model and installation date. We’ll explain how the manufacturer’s terms are likely to apply before any chargeable work goes ahead.

Questions from Burwash

Is Burwash in your area for air conditioning?

Yes, Burwash is within the area we cover. To start, ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few pictures.

Do you cover smaller places like Burwash?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

Single-room systems start from £1,200 + VAT and are typically up to £2,200 + VAT. That covers supply, installation, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork and is fixed after a survey or from pictures.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.

Do you work on all makes?

We install and work on the leading makes, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.

Do I need planning permission?

Sometimes. Heat pumps and cooling-only units are treated differently, and so are flats, listed buildings and conservation areas. We point out anything that may need permission at the survey, and the council has the final say. This is general information, not legal advice.

How the visit works

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: look, put right and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. The middle part takes longest, which takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. Seeing the property in pictures first means the trip to Burwash can be planned properly.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in

Ask for a quote

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Advice

Owner checks or an engineer?

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.

For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

What air conditioning won’t do

To be straight with you, some problems need a different answer:

  • A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
  • Building damp that has a structural cause
  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)

If in doubt, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we will say what we think.

What an install looks like in Burwash

Burwash’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. On the National Heritage List, around 62 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Burwash; The Parish Church of St Bartholomew (grade II*) is one. Before any outdoor unit is fixed here, we find out whether the building is protected. Where it is, the planning team at Rother council, which usually handles Burwash has the final say on what’s allowed. About 74% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it.

About 0.8 miles south-west stands Bateman's. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Homes near The Parish Church of St Bartholomew are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

There’s a tax point for homes: HMRC zero-rates the installation of energy-saving materials in homes until 31 March 2027, after which the rate becomes 5%. Whether a particular system qualifies depends on the facts and we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice.
