How we handle air conditioning servicing in Westfield

Servicing doesn’t mean topping up refrigerant. Refrigerant runs in a sealed circuit and shouldn’t need adding to. If the performance checks point to a leak, we explain the options for finding and fixing it rather than just topping up. The work covers ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and multi-split systems, and people most often call us about F-gas leak checks falling due and a unit showing a fault code.

Outdoor units around Westfield tend to be close to gardens and hedges, so the outdoor coil can clog with leaves and seeds. Every service includes cleaning it.

We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

What air conditioning servicing cannot fix

We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that won’t help, so here are the limits:

  • Installation faults that need reworking
  • Cooling capacity that doesn’t match the space
  • Parts that have failed and need replacing

Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Where we work

  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ducted systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps

How it works

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. On site, it takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Everything the job in Westfield needs is worked out beforehand.

  1. When you book, we ask what make it is, how many rooms it serves and whether anything seems wrong.
  2. The engineer switches the system on and checks how it behaves before taking anything apart.
  3. We clean the filters and coils and make sure the condensate drains away.
  4. The wiring, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, plus a leak check on systems large enough to need one.
  5. We leave you a record of the service and explain anything we found.

How to prepare

Advice

Keeping the system healthy

How well a system lasts depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Know your manufacturer’s servicing conditions
  • Keep to an annual service, or more often if needed
  • Clean the filters between services, as the manual describes

Where the system needs F-gas leak checks, the result is recorded, and the next check is due within the period the rules set. We can diary it for you.

Make sure condensate pipes outside are not crushed, blocked or buried. A pipe that’s been knocked or covered can back up into the indoor unit.

Signs you need air conditioning servicing in Westfield

Systems that run most of the year collect dirt faster than ones used on a few hot days. Heat pumps used for winter heating and units in busy offices, shops or kitchens get through a lot of air and so builds up dirt more quickly.

Customers normally contact us after spotting something like this:

  • A system that struggles to cool on warm days
  • Systems that haven’t been serviced for a while
  • Frost or ice on the refrigerant pipes

If you look after a school such as Westfield Primary School, servicing is easiest in the holidays.

Before booking anyone

  • Whether the quote shows VAT clearly
  • What’s in the price and what is not
  • Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job

Our hiring checklist

Your questions about air conditioning servicing in Westfield

Do you cover Westfield for air conditioning servicing?

We do: Westfield falls inside our working area. To start, ring us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with a few pictures.

Do you cover smaller places like Westfield?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

When is an F-gas leak check required?

The requirement starts at 5 tCO2e. Many small split systems fall below it: 3 kg of R32, for instance, is about 2.0 tCO2e. We read the charge from the label and work it out for you.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your photos and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.

Can I have a maintenance contract for my air conditioning?

Yes, with visits planned to suit how hard the system works. We agree the cost up front and you get a record after every visit.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we will tell you what to do first.

A customer’s words

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
