Air conditioning servicing in The Haven

Maintenance contracts suit anyone who would rather not have to remember when the next service is due. We agree the visits, what each one covers and the price with your quote, so the system is looked after on a regular schedule. The work covers ducted systems, ceiling cassettes and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about noisy fans or rattling from the outdoor unit and an unpleasant odour when the system runs.

Most systems around The Haven need servicing once a year, best done before summer.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

What air conditioning won’t do

Air conditioning servicing can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It will not put right:

  • Parts that have failed and need replacing
  • Heat from large windows, roof spaces or equipment beyond the system’s capacity
  • A system short of gas because of a leak

Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Ducted systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • VRF systems

How it works

Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to The Haven easier.

  1. A date is fixed and the service price confirmed in advance.
  2. Before any cleaning, the system is run so we can see how it behaves.
  3. Filters, coils, fans and drains are cleaned and cleared.
  4. We check the wiring, controls and refrigerant circuit, and leak check systems that need it.
  5. We run the system again and leave you a service record.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it

Advice

What a service looks like in The Haven

Historic England lists about 9 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of The Haven, including Ivy Cottage (grade II). That only matters for replacements, where a new outdoor unit on a protected building can need consent. The last census (2021) found about 81% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Access to the outdoor unit is the one detail that most changes how a visit is planned.

If you cannot remember the last service, it’s probably due. A musty smell from the indoor unit is often a sign it needs a service.

FAQs for The Haven

How often do you service systems in The Haven?

A yearly visit is right for most households. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.

Do you cover The Haven for air conditioning servicing?

Yes, The Haven is within the area we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

What accreditations do you have?

F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

How much time does an air con service need?

A service takes a short visit for one split system, longer for multi-split, ducted or commercial plant. Any repair found on the day is priced and agreed before it’s done, and you can phone 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk to book.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. For simple jobs, photos and a few details can be enough, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

What owners can safely do

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Owners can handle the everyday basics: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

Different systems, different jobs

Fans and electrics

Electrical connections are checked for tightness and signs of overheating. Loose connections can cause faults that come and go, so this matters.

Maintenance contracts

A maintenance contract sets out the visits, what each covers and the price, fixed with your quote. It suits homes and businesses alike.

A customer’s words
