What a service looks like in Rolvenden Layne

Rolvenden Layne’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. Gatehouse to Great Maytham, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 38 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Rolvenden Layne’s centre. If a repair turns into a replacement on a listed building or in a conservation area, we check the planning position before changing the outdoor unit. About 69% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. Access to the outdoor unit is the one detail that most changes how a visit is planned.

If you can’t remember the last service, it’s probably due. For a school like Rolvenden Primary School, maintenance visits can be booked out of term.

Air conditioning servicing in Rolvenden Layne, done properly

Every hour, an indoor unit draws the room’s air through its filter and over its coil again and again. Dust, fluff and anything else in the air ends up on those parts. Servicing removes it, letting air pass through the unit properly and the condensate drain away. The work covers multi-split systems, ceiling cassettes and ducted systems, and people most often call us about humming, rattling or squealing from the system and a service that’s overdue.

In a village like Rolvenden Layne, outdoor units often face hedges, fields or gardens, where seeds and leaves collect on the coil. A yearly clean keeps the system working well.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

Rolvenden Layne questions

Can you do air conditioning servicing in Rolvenden Layne?

Yes, Rolvenden Layne is within the area we cover. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.

Is Rolvenden Layne within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

When will I hear back?

You will hear from us the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Does my air conditioning need an F-gas leak check?

The rules are based on tCO2e, which comes from the refrigerant charge and its GWP. At 5 to under 50 tCO2e, it’s at least every 12 months; at 50 to under 500 tCO2e, every 6 months. Hermetically sealed systems under 10 tCO2e are exempt.

What’s included in an air conditioning service?

A full clean and check of the system. That means filters, coils and drains, plus electrical connections, controls and refrigerant performance with leak checks where the rules require them.

Do you top up refrigerant during a service?

The service checks how the refrigerant circuit is performing, but doesn’t include adding gas. If gas has been lost, the right step is a leak search and repair, then a regas, priced before we start.

What the work involves, system by system

Refrigerant performance and leak checks

tCO2e is the refrigerant charge in kg multiplied by its global warming potential, divided by 1,000. So 3 kg of R32 is roughly 2.0 tCO2e, and the same amount of R410A is roughly 6.3 tCO2e. We check the label on your system and tell you where it sits.

Fans and electrics

Electrical connections are checked for tightness and signs of overheating. A loose terminal can be the cause of an intermittent fault and is easily put right.

Leave it or put it right?

When air can’t get through the unit easily, the system has to run longer to get there. Cleaning them is a small job, and it means the system isn’t straining through the summer. A system that’s left with a fault, or without a service, normally costs more to run.

Several rooms, units or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every unit or room you need covered and we’ll price it together.

What air conditioning won’t do

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work cannot put right:

  • Cooling capacity that does not match the space
  • Rooms that gain heat faster than any unit could cope with
  • Parts that have failed and need replacing

Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly.

What the work covers

  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Ducted systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps

What happens on the day

The first job on site is protection: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes an hour or so for a single wall-mounted unit, longer for a multi-split system, and we tidy up before we leave. If a lane or gateway near Rolvenden Layne is tight for a van, let us know and we will plan for it.

  1. First, we agree a time and confirm the cost of the service.
  2. The engineer runs the system and checks how it’s performing.
  3. We clean the filters, coils and fans and clear the condensate drain.
  4. The electrics, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, with a leak check where required.
  5. A final test run follows, then you get the service record.

Getting ready for the visit
