Your questions about air conditioning servicing in River
How often do you service systems in River?
Once a year suits most home systems. Check your manufacturer’s warranty terms too, as some of them make regular servicing a condition.
Is River within the area you cover?
Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Which accreditations do you hold?
As the law requires for refrigerant work, we are an F-Gas certified company. We’re also NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and Checkatrade members.
Is a regas part of an air conditioning service?
A regas is a separate job, done once a leak has been found and fixed. Topping up without finding the leak means the gas escapes again, so we don’t recommend it.
When is an F-gas leak check required?
The rules are based on tCO2e, which comes from the refrigerant charge and its GWP. From 5 to under 50 tCO2e, leak checks are required at least every 12 months, and from 50 to under 500 tCO2e every 6 months. Hermetically sealed systems under 10 tCO2e are exempt.
Air conditioning servicing in River
People in River book a service for all sorts of reasons: smells at start-up, a unit that struggles on hot days, drips from the indoor unit, or a service that is overdue. The same full set of checks applies whatever prompted the call. If the problem is a unit showing a fault code and iced-up coils or pipework, we can help.
Several units at a home near River can be serviced in one visit.
Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details for an installation, a fault and repair note for a repair, or a record of the service. Keep it with the system’s paperwork, because it helps with any later warranty question.

Managing agents and facilities teams in River
Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
Where a tenant occupies the property but the landlord owns the system, it’s worth checking the agreement for who looks after the system. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.
How it works
Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. The visit takes an hour or so for a single wall-mounted unit, longer for a multi-split system. We plan the trip to River around you.
- When you book, we ask what make it is, how many rooms it serves and whether anything seems wrong.
- The system is run and checked before anything is opened up.
- Filters are cleaned, coils treated and the drain tray and pipe cleared.
- The wiring, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, plus a leak check on systems large enough to need one.
- You get a service record, with anything that needs attention explained.
How to prepare
- Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
- Name a contact who can meet us at the agreed time
- Move furniture away from the wall where we will be working
Getting a price
Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because every property is different. Once we have looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To start, ring 07833 053749 or send an email.

What a service looks like in River
On the National Heritage List, around 13 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of River; The Manor House (grade II*) is one. Swapping an outdoor unit on a listed building or in a conservation area may need consent, so we’ll flag it if a replacement is needed. The Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures put about 43% of homes in and around River before 1919, and the 2021 Census found about 73% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Access to the outdoor unit is the one detail that most changes how a visit is planned.
Spring is a good time for a service, before the system is needed for cooling. Water dripping from the indoor unit often traces back to a drain that needs clearing.

Indoor and outdoor coils
Outside, the coil gives off or picks up heat. It collects garden debris and dirt, so we clean it and clear the area around the unit.
Refrigerant performance and leak checks
To find tCO2e, multiply the kg of refrigerant by its GWP and divide by 1,000. As an example, 3 kg of R32 comes to about 2.0 tCO2e, while 3 kg of R410A is about 6.3 tCO2e. We read the charge from the unit’s label and work it out for you.
When it’s something else
Air conditioning servicing can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before we start. It does not solve:
- A system short of gas because of a leak
- Installation faults that need reworking
- A failed compressor, fan motor or circuit board, which needs a repair
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think before you book.
