Air conditioning servicing in Northiam

A service is not the same as a regas. Refrigerant runs in a sealed circuit and shouldn’t need adding to. If the performance checks point to a leak, we explain the options for finding and fixing it rather than just topping up. If you’re dealing with weaker cooling than last year and error codes or flashing lights on the indoor unit, we can sort it out.

Most systems around Northiam need servicing once a year, best done before summer.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. File it with the manual so it’s to hand next time.

Northiam questions

Is Northiam in your area for air conditioning servicing?

Yes. Northiam is one of the places we cover. Just ring us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line with a few details.

How often do you service systems in Northiam?

Once a year suits most home systems. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.

Is an F-gas leak check a legal requirement for my system?

Only if the system is at or above the threshold of 5 tCO2e. Plenty of small splits sit under it, as 3 kg of R32 works out at about 2.0 tCO2e. We check the label and tell you whether your system needs checks and how often.

How long does an air conditioning service take?

A typical service takes an hour or so for a single wall-mounted unit, longer for a multi-split system. Units that are hard to reach can take longer, and we’ll tell you in advance.

What accreditations do you have?

F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, and we are Checkatrade members. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.

Is a regas part of an air conditioning service?

We check refrigerant performance on every service, but adding gas is separate work. If gas has been lost, the right step is a leak search and repair, then a regas, priced before work begins.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Why act early in Northiam

Servicing is planned, priced and booked at a time that suits you. A fault picks its own moment and that makes a planned service the simpler way to look after the system. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. For a fixed-price quote, phone us on 07833 053749, and we will talk you through it.

Why us?

  • We reply to enquiries the same working day
  • One contact for properties across the South East and London
  • NICEIC approved electrical contractors
  • We diagnose before we treat

Looking after it afterwards

To keep the system working properly:

  • Read the warranty conditions for your brand
  • Clear leaves and debris from around the outdoor unit
  • Check the condensate pipe outside is not blocked or crushed

If you’d rather not keep track of service dates yourself, ask about a maintenance contract. We agree the visits and the cost up front, and we get in touch when the next one is due.

Keep the area around the outdoor unit clear. Leaves, garden waste, bins and climbing plants all restrict the airflow and should be moved away.

Honest limits

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Major component failures that call for a repair visit
  • Rooms that gain heat faster than any unit could cope with
  • Lost refrigerant, where the fix is a leak repair

If you are not sure, just phone 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Ducted systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Multi-split systems

  • Wall-mounted split systems

What a service looks like in Northiam

Census 2021 figures found about 80% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A photo of the outdoor unit and its surroundings tells us what access the visit needs. Northiam’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. 3 conservation areas lie within a mile of central Northiam. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 59 within half a mile of the centre, such as Church House (grade II*). If a repair turns into a replacement on a listed building or in a conservation area, we check the planning position before changing the outdoor unit.

Most homes book one service a year; busy offices and shops may want more. For a school like Northiam Church of England Primary School, maintenance visits can be booked out of term.

How it works

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it doesn’t catch you out. For businesses, we can usually work room by room or zone by zone. On site, it takes an hour or two for most homes, and longer where there are several indoor units or a ducted system. A few pictures help us make the most of a visit to Northiam.

  1. We start with the details of the system and anything you’ve noticed.
  2. The indoor units are opened up and the filters, coils and drain trays cleaned.
  3. The outdoor unit gets its own clean, with leaves and debris cleared away.
  4. We test the electrics, the controls and how the refrigerant circuit is performing.
  5. If a repair is needed, you hear why and what it costs before anything is done.

Before we arrive

  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Ask for a quote

Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us.
