Air conditioning servicing in Newchapel, done properly

People in Newchapel book a service for all sorts of reasons: smells at start-up, a unit that struggles on hot days, drips from the indoor unit, or a service that’s overdue. Whatever the reason, the visit follows the same thorough checks. The work covers multi-split systems, ceiling cassettes and air-to-air heat pumps, and common reasons people get in touch are smells coming from the indoor unit and drips or damp patches below an indoor unit.

For a home in or near Newchapel, a service once a year suits most systems, ideally in spring before the warm weather.

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Why act early in Newchapel

For most systems at or over 5 tCO2e, leak checks are a legal requirement, not a choice. Missing one leaves you without the check and the record, and it’s simpler to keep to the schedule. A system that’s left with a fault, or without a service, typically costs more to run.

Several rooms, units or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered, and you’ll get one fixed price.

Keeping the system healthy

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. A few tips:

  • Clear leaves and debris from around the outdoor unit
  • Call about new noises or smells rather than waiting
  • Keep the service records with the warranty paperwork

If we find a fault, we explain it and give you a price to put it right. Nothing extra is done without your say-so, so you stay in control of the cost.

Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Plants, bins and stored items piled around it get in the way of the air it needs and should be moved away.

When it’s something else

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Pipework or drainage that was badly installed in the first place
  • A unit that was undersized when it was chosen
  • Heat gains the system was never sized for

Not sure which it is? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.

Common questions in Newchapel

Can you do air conditioning servicing in Newchapel?

Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Newchapel is part of that. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Does my air con in Newchapel need a yearly service?

Once a year suits most home systems. Some manufacturers’ warranty terms ask for regular servicing, so it’s worth keeping the records.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. That isn’t optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is a legal requirement, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We’re happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

Does my air conditioning need an F-gas leak check?

Only if the system is at or above the threshold of 5 tCO2e. Many small split systems fall below it: 3 kg of R32, for example, is about 2.0 tCO2e. We check the label and tell you whether your system needs checks and how often.

How long does an air conditioning service take?

As a guide, it takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Ducted units in ceiling voids and outdoor units in awkward places can add time and we’ll let you know before the visit.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes. Every visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. File them with the system’s paperwork.

How the visit works

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes an hour or two for most homes, and longer where there are several indoor units or a ducted system. Visits to Newchapel are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. You tell us the brand, the number of indoor units and any symptoms.
  2. Each indoor unit has its covers lifted so the filters, coil and tray can be cleaned.
  3. Outside, the coil is cleaned, the fan checked and the area cleared.
  4. Electrical connections, controls and refrigerant performance are tested.
  5. Anything we find is explained, with a fixed price if it needs a repair.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
