About our air conditioning servicing in Hardwick
A manufacturer’s warranty can come with conditions, and regular servicing may be one of them. Each brand sets its own terms, and we can explain what yours says. Our service record shows the work was done. Common call-outs are for noisy fans or rattling from the outdoor unit and systems that need a 6 or 12-monthly leak check, across multi-split systems, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems.
Around Hardwick, outdoor units sit close to gardens and greenery, where seeds and leaves collect on the coil. A yearly clean keeps the system working well.
Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

Looking after your system
Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. Our tips:
- Book the service at least once a year
- Rinse the indoor unit filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Keep plants, bins and stored items away from the outdoor unit
Any fault we find is explained, with a fixed price for the repair. Nothing extra is done without your say-so, so you stay in control of the cost.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Plants, bins and stored items piled around it get in the way of the air it needs and should be moved away.
System by system
Indoor and outdoor coils
Outside, the coil gives off or picks up heat. It collects garden debris and dirt, so we clean it and clear the area around the unit.
Maintenance contracts
We tailor the schedule to how hard the system works, rather than a one-size plan.
Hardwick: your questions answered
Will you come out to Hardwick?
Yes. Hardwick is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Does my air con in Hardwick need a yearly service?
A yearly visit is right for most households. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, typically whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
Does my air conditioning need an F-gas leak check?
The rules are based on tCO2e, which comes from the refrigerant charge and its GWP. At 5 to under 50 tCO2e, it’s at least every 12 months; at 50 to under 500 tCO2e, every 6 months. Hermetically sealed systems under 10 tCO2e are exempt.
When will I hear back?
You’ll hear from us the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
How long does an air conditioning service take?
As a guide, it takes an hour or so for a single wall-mounted unit, longer for a multi-split system. Ducted units in ceiling voids and outdoor units in awkward places can add time and we will let you know before the visit.
Owner checks or an engineer?
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
How the visit works
Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Work in Hardwick is booked in advance at a time that suits you.
- First, we agree a time and confirm the cost of the service.
- The engineer runs the system and checks how it’s performing.
- Filters, coils, fans and drains are cleaned and cleared.
- Electrical and refrigerant checks follow, including a leak check if the rules require one.
- We run the system again and leave you a service record.
Preparing for the visit
- Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
- Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit

From one of our customers
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
