Air conditioning servicing in Cock Marling

An annual service is £95–£150 + VAT, and we confirm the figure before we book you in. Multi-split, ducted and commercial systems are priced once we know what’s there. There’s no guessing at the bill afterwards. We’re often asked to deal with a musty or damp smell when the unit starts and F-gas leak checks falling due, on wall-mounted split systems, ceiling cassettes and air-to-air heat pumps.

For a home in or near Cock Marling, a service once a year suits most systems, ideally in spring before the warm weather.

For a fault on a system that may still be under warranty, send us the make, model and installation date. We’ll explain how the manufacturer’s terms are likely to apply before anything chargeable is done.

How the visit works

Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes anything from an hour for a simple split system to most of a day for a larger installation. If a lane or gateway near Cock Marling is tight for a van, let us know and we’ll plan for it.

  1. It begins with a few questions about the make, the rooms served and any symptoms.
  2. The indoor units are opened up and the filters, coils and drain trays cleaned.
  3. Outside, the coil is cleaned, the fan checked and the area cleared.
  4. We test the electrics, the controls and how the refrigerant circuit is performing.
  5. We explain what we found and price any repair before it’s done.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children away from the work area
  • Clear access to the fuse board
  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records

Advice

Cock Marling: your questions answered

Will you come out to Cock Marling?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

How often do you service systems in Cock Marling?

A yearly visit is right for most households. Business systems may also need F-gas leak checks, at least every 12 months from 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Each visit is written up, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.

Are you F-Gas certified?

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.

Do you work on all makes?

We work with the leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.

What do you check on an air conditioning service?

Filters, coils, fans and the condensate drain are all cleaned and checked. The electrics, controls and refrigerant circuit are tested too, with an F-gas leak check where the system requires one.

Do you top up refrigerant during a service?

We check refrigerant performance on every service, but adding gas is separate work. If gas has been lost, the right step is a leak search and repair, then a regas, priced before any work starts.

System by system

Refrigerant performance and leak checks

The law requires leak checks once a system reaches 5 tCO2e, at least yearly up to 50 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 to under 500 tCO2e. Hermetically sealed equipment holding less than 10 tCO2e does not need them.

Filters

The filter is the first line of defence for the indoor unit. We clean them and check for damage, and if a filter is past its best we tell you.

Rented and managed buildings

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.

Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

Keeping systems in Cock Marling running

Cock Marling lies within about 3 miles of the sea. Coastal outdoor units are worth checking for corrosion at every service. The middle of Cock Marling is part of a conservation area. About 8 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Cock Marling, Float Farmhouse (grade II) among them. Day-to-day work on an existing system is not affected; a replacement outdoor unit on a protected building might be.

If you can’t remember the last service, it’s probably due. A musty smell from the indoor unit is often a sign it needs a service.

After we have gone

Once we have finished, these simple steps help:

  • Keep to an annual service, or more often if needed
  • Know your manufacturer’s servicing conditions
  • Leave space around the outdoor unit for air to flow

Run the system for a while after the visit and check it feels right. If anything seems off, ring us on 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll look into it.

Check that the condensate pipe outside can still drain. A pipe that is been knocked or covered can back up into the indoor unit.

From one of our customers

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
