- Water dripping from the indoor unit
Air conditioning servicing in Bygrave
A service is as much a check-up as a clean. We listen to the fans, look at the pipework and insulation, test the controls and check the electrical connections are sound, and tells you about anything that looks like it’s heading for trouble. We are often asked to deal with a musty or damp smell when the unit starts and drips or damp patches below an indoor unit, on ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and VRF systems.
For a home in or near Bygrave, a service once a year suits most systems, ideally in spring before the warm weather.
Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. File it with the manual, because it helps with any later warranty question.

Servicing in Bygrave: local notes
Church of St Margaret of Antioch, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 3 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Bygrave’s centre. That only matters for replacements, where a new outdoor unit on a protected building can need consent. At about 35 miles from central London, Bygrave sits inside the area we cover across London and the South East.
For a school like The Knights Templar School, maintenance visits can be booked out of term. If you can’t remember the last service, it’s probably due.

Different systems, different jobs
Filters
Filters catch dust before it reaches the coil. We clean them and check for damage, and if a filter is past its best we tell you.
Indoor and outdoor coils
Coil fins are thin and easily flattened. We note any damage and tell you if it’s affecting performance.
Keeping the system healthy
Simple habits make a real difference. Our advice:
- Know your manufacturer’s servicing conditions
- Hold on to every service report
- Close windows when the air conditioning is running
Once we have gone, use the system as normal and see how it performs. If you notice anything unusual, ring us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll talk it through.
An annual service is the simplest routine to keep to with extra visits where the system runs constantly or needs more frequent leak checks.
FAQs for Bygrave
Will you come out to Bygrave?
Yes. Bygrave is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Do you cover Bygrave for air conditioning servicing?
We do: Bygrave falls inside our working area. To start, ring 07833 053749 or send an email with a few pictures.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. It’s worth checking before booking and we will gladly show you ours.
Do you do service contracts for air con?
We do, for one unit at home or many across a site. The visits, what each covers and the price are agreed with your quote, so servicing and any required leak checks stay on schedule.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
We install and work on the leading makes, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.
How long does an air conditioning service take?
Expect it to take anything from an hour for a simple split system to most of a day for a larger installation. The number of indoor units and how easy they are to reach make the biggest difference so we will confirm the time when we book.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
Safe owner checks
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.
How the visit works
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Rural lanes and tight entrances are worth mentioning before a visit to Bygrave.
- We ask about the system: the make, the number of indoor units and any problems you’ve noticed.
- The engineer switches the system on and checks how it behaves before taking anything apart.
- Filters, coils and the condensate drain are cleaned and cleared.
- The wiring, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, plus a leak check on systems large enough to need one.
- You get a service record, with anything that needs attention explained.
How to prepare
- Let us know where we can park and unload
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
- Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
