About our air conditioning servicing in Ashwell
Servicing doesn’t mean topping up refrigerant. The refrigerant circuit is sealed, so a system that is short of gas has a leak somewhere. Where the checks suggest gas has been lost, the right step is to find the leak, and we will set out how. Typical jobs include warning lights on the indoor unit and a service that’s overdue, on ducted systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ceiling cassettes.
For most homes near Ashwell, a service once a year keeps the system efficient and the filters clean, and some manufacturers’ warranty terms ask for regular servicing.
Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

Rented and managed buildings
If you look after several properties, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.
We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork, and we will keep everyone informed.
Keeping systems in Ashwell running
The Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures put about 36% of homes in the Ashwell area before 1919, and about 77% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. A photo of the outdoor unit and its surroundings tells us what access the visit needs. Ashwell’s centre falls inside the Ashwell Conservation Area. On the National Heritage List, around 71 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Ashwell; Church of St Mary (grade I) is one. For most visits that makes no difference. It only comes up when an outdoor unit has to be replaced on a protected building.
Booking before the first hot spell means the system is ready when you need it. Site managers at schools like Ashwell Primary School can have the site’s units serviced during a holiday.

What we do, step by step
Every visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, protect the area, carry out the job, test what we have done and explain it all to you. The visit itself takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Let us know how to reach the outside wall or outdoor unit at your property near Ashwell.
- We ask about the system: the make, the number of indoor units and any problems you’ve noticed.
- The system is run and checked before anything is opened up.
- We clean the filters and coils and make sure the condensate drains away.
- Temperatures and pressures tell us how the refrigerant circuit is doing, alongside checks on the wiring and controls.
- We leave you a record of the service and explain anything we found.
How to prepare
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them
- Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property

When it’s something else
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work cannot put right:
- A system that is too small for the room it serves
- Installation faults that need reworking
- Parts that have failed and need replacing
If you are not sure, just call us on 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.
What the work covers
- Ceiling cassettes
- Ducted systems
- Wall-mounted split systems
- Air-to-air heat pumps
- Multi-split systems
- VRF systems
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Questions from Ashwell
How often do you service systems in Ashwell?
A yearly visit is right for most households. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.
Do you cover Ashwell for air conditioning servicing?
We do: Ashwell falls inside our working area. To start, ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few photos.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. Every visit is written up, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
Which accreditations do you hold?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is a legal requirement, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
