Our emergency line runs 24/7 for urgent breakdowns, from an overheating comms room to water leaking from a unit. Why act early in Stoke

Refrigerant supply is changing. R410A systems can still be repaired legally, though the GB phase-down is making R410A harder and dearer to buy, so for older systems we compare the cost of a repair with a replacement. A system that is left with a fault, or without a service, typically costs more to run.

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.

Safe owner checks

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Stoke

We also work for facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings in Stoke and across Medway. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

Running several properties is easier with one contractor. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

Stoke questions

Who do I call if my air conditioning fails in Stoke out of hours?

Stoke is within our area, and the emergency line is open 24/7. A diagnosis call-out starts from £75 + VAT, and knowing the brand and the symptoms helps us plan it.

Is the coast a problem for outdoor units in Stoke?

It can. Stoke is within about 1 mile of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. We look for corroded coils, fixings and connections on coastal repairs.

How quickly will you reply?

The same working day. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, with a fixed price before work starts.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

Why is my air conditioning icing up?

Ice is a symptom of low airflow or low refrigerant. A clogged filter, a fan problem or a leak are typical. Switch the system off, let it thaw and phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. For simple jobs, photos and a few details can be enough, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.

The process

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. On site, it takes an hour or two to diagnose most faults, with the repair time depending on what we find. Photos of the room and the outside of the property help us plan a visit to Stoke.

  1. It starts with the symptoms: what the unit is doing, the make and any code on the display.
  2. The engineer reads the fault codes and checks the electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant circuit.
  3. Nothing is repaired until you’ve heard what’s wrong and agreed a fixed price.
  4. We repair the fault, and where refrigerant is involved, the leak is found and fixed before recharging.
  5. Finally the system is tested in operation and you get a note of the fault and the fix.

How to prepare

  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Tell us about parking and loading
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go

Advice

Air conditioning repairs in Stoke: local notes

At about 1 mile from the coast, Stoke is close enough for sea air to matter. On a coastal repair, we look at the outdoor unit for corrosion as well as the fault you called about. Church of St Peter and St Paul, listed at grade I, is one of roughly 3 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Stoke’s centre. Day-to-day work on an existing system isn’t affected; a replacement outdoor unit on a protected building might be. VOA council tax data date about 44% of homes across Stoke and its surrounding area to the post-war years, 1945 to 1972. Wall bracket, ground pad or flat roof: knowing where the outdoor unit is saves time on the day.

The make, model and error code are the most useful things to tell us. If a system fails at a school such as Stoke Primary Academy, our 24/7 line takes the call, and planned repairs can wait for the holidays.
