Air conditioning repair in Hordle

Air conditioning repair in Hordle, done properly

A sealed system shouldn’t lose refrigerant, so a low charge means a leak somewhere. Simply adding gas means it will leak away again. We find and fix the leak, pressure test, evacuate and recharge to the manufacturer’s charge and write it up in the F-Gas records. If the problem is a noisy indoor or outdoor unit and a system that keeps cutting out, we can sort it out.

Outdoor units around Hordle often sit near hedges, trees and lawns, where leaves and cuttings can clog the coil and cut the cooling. That’s one of the first things we check.

If a fault appears while the equipment is under the manufacturer’s warranty, tell us the make, model and installation date. We’ll tell you how the manufacturer’s warranty is likely to apply before any chargeable work goes ahead.

Air conditioning repair around Hordle

The coast is only about 2 miles from Hordle. Corroded fins, fixings and electrical connections on outdoor units are more common near the sea, and they can cause faults. About 82% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). Access to the outdoor unit is the one detail that most changes how a visit is planned. Box Cottage, listed at grade II, is one of roughly 9 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Hordle’s centre. For most visits that makes no difference. It only comes up when an outdoor unit has to be replaced on a protected building.

The rating label on the unit gives the model number, which helps us bring the right parts. If a system fails at a school such as Hordle CofE (VA) Primary School, our 24/7 line takes the call, and planned repairs can wait for the holidays.

Keeping the system healthy

Looking after it is simple, and it helps at the next service:

  • Note any error code, or take a photo of the display
  • Leave a tripping breaker off and call us
  • Let any ice thaw before the engineer arrives

The repair is written up: what was wrong, what was replaced and any refrigerant work. Any refrigerant work is recorded in the F-Gas records, so keep the note with the system’s paperwork.

Book an annual service. A service cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small faults early, which is far simpler than an emergency repair.

FAQs for Hordle

Is there an emergency air con repair line for Hordle?

Yes: ring the emergency line, day or night, from anywhere in Hordle. Have the make, model and error code ready, and we will talk you through what happens next.

Do you cover smaller places like Hordle?

Yes. Hordle is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

What does the error code on my air conditioning mean?

The code is the system’s own clue to the fault, but it is not the whole answer. Write down the code and turn the unit off if it has stopped, then call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we will suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.

What does F-Gas certified mean?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That isn’t optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.

What accreditations do you have?

We are an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

What air conditioning repair cannot fix

Not every problem is solved by air conditioning repair, and we’d rather say so up front. It does not solve:

  • A building problem rather than a system fault
  • A power cut or a fault on the incoming supply to the building (that is for the network operator)
  • A unit whose parts are no longer made (replacement may be the only option)

If in doubt, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Ducted systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Heat pumps

Owner checks or an engineer?

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

What happens on the day

Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. On site, the work takes anything from an hour or so to a full day, depending on the fault and the parts. Let us know how to reach the outside wall or outdoor unit at your property near Hordle.

  1. Describe the problem and the brand, and mention any code on the display.
  2. On the diagnosis visit, we test the electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant.
  3. You get the cause explained and a fixed price for the repair.
  4. Once you’re happy, the repair is done and any refrigerant work recorded.
  5. The system is run and checked, and you get a written note of the repair.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
