Air conditioning repair in Falmer

The process

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then we do the work, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. Most of the time goes on the middle part, and that takes a single visit for many faults, while some repairs need a second visit once parts arrive. For a village like Falmer, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. Tell us the make, the symptoms and any error code, and send a photo of the display if you can.
  2. At the property, readings and tests narrow the problem down to its cause.
  3. Nothing is repaired until you’ve heard what’s wrong and agreed a fixed price.
  4. The repair is carried out, and any refrigerant work is leak tested and recorded.
  5. Before leaving, we run it through its modes and write up what was found and done.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

Advice

How we handle air conditioning repair in Falmer

A sealed system shouldn’t lose refrigerant, so a low charge means a leak somewhere. Simply adding gas means it will leak away again. We find and fix the leak, pressure test, evacuate and recharge to the manufacturer’s charge, then record it in the F-Gas records. The work covers ducted systems, heat pumps and ceiling cassettes, and the jobs we see most are frost on the pipework and a unit blowing warm air.

We plan the trip to Falmer so the repair can be finished in one visit where possible, unless a part has to come from the manufacturer.

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

What we are called out for in Falmer

When ice forms on the pipes or coil, something else is wrong. Low airflow from blocked filters or a failing fan, or low refrigerant from a leak, are the common causes. Switch the system off and let it thaw before calling us.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Drips from the indoor unit
  • An error code or flashing light on the unit
  • A unit that has lost refrigerant

If your system near Falmer station stops in a hot spell, our 24/7 line is open.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Exactly what the price includes, from supply and fitting to commissioning
  • Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
  • How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected

It only comes up when an outdoor unit has to be replaced on a protected building. VOA council tax data show about 40% of homes in and around Falmer were built in 2000 or later, and the 2021 Census found about 62% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Questions from Falmer

Is there an emergency air con repair line for Falmer?

Yes. Our 24/7 emergency line covers Falmer. A diagnosis call-out starts from £75 + VAT, and knowing the brand and the symptoms helps us plan it.

Do you cover smaller places like Falmer?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

When will I hear back?

The same working day. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, with a fixed price before work starts.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

Companies working on equipment that contains F gas must be certified by an approved body, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It means the refrigerant in your system is handled legally.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

For some brands, yes. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we will explain them, and book the service at the interval they recommend.

How much is an air conditioning call-out?

Diagnosis call-outs start from £75 + VAT. When we’ve found the fault, the repair is priced before we do it. The final cost depends on the fault, the parts and the access.

Looking after your system

Looking after it is simple, and it helps at the next service:

  • Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips
  • Never add refrigerant yourself or let anyone top up without finding the leak
  • Write down the fault code if there is one

After the repair, the system is run and checked in every mode it has. We check it’s cooling or heating as it should and that the fault hasn’t left anything else behind and point out anything else we spotted.

Clean the filters regularly. Clogged filters starve the unit of air, and that can cause ice, drips and poor performance, so keep them clean as the manual describes.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Falmer

For anyone managing more than one building, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.

Running several properties is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
