Air conditioning repair in Cocking

How we handle air conditioning repair in Cocking

We treat a faulty system the way a doctor treats a patient: find the cause, put it right and check it’s healthy before we leave. Guesswork costs money, and topping up refrigerant on a system with a blocked filter fixes nothing. The work covers ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and ducted systems, and the jobs we see most are a suspected refrigerant leak and water leaking from the unit or through the ceiling.

Around Cocking, outdoor units often sit close to gardens and hedges, so leaves, seeds and cobwebs on the coil are worth checking first.

Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

What we do, step by step

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it does not catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. On site, it takes anything from an hour or so to a full day, depending on the fault and the parts. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Cocking so we arrive with what’s needed.

  1. We start with what the unit is doing, the make and any code.
  2. On the diagnosis visit, we test the electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant.
  3. We explain the cause in plain English and give you a fixed price.
  4. With your go-ahead, we carry out the repair, recording any refrigerant work.
  5. We test the system in operation and leave you a note of the fault and the fix.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas

Common questions in Cocking

Do you cover smaller places like Cocking?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Do you cover Cocking for air conditioning repair?

Yes, Cocking is within the area we cover. Just call 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with a few details.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Can you still repair R410A air conditioning?

Yes. We find and fix the leak, then recharge with R410A and record it in the F-Gas records, and we tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it on an older system.

What can I do with an old R22 system?

Most of the time, we recommend replacement. R22 cannot be topped up with new gas, and parts for old models are scarce, so a new system on a modern refrigerant is usually the better investment.

What does the error code on my air conditioning mean?

The code is the system’s own clue to the fault, but testing confirms the cause. Note the code and switch the system off if it is not working, then ring 07833 053749.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Owner checks or an engineer?

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

Why deal with it now?

Small faults rarely stay small. A blocked drain becomes water damage, and a slow leak drains the refrigerant until the compressor is working far harder than it should and early diagnosis typically keeps the repair simpler. An early booking makes the visit to Cocking easier to arrange.

Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.

Do you need air conditioning repair in Cocking?

Most indoor unit leaks come back to the condensate. The drain may be blocked or kinked, the condensate pump may have failed, or the unit may not be level, and ice on the coil that melts can drip too.

Common reasons people call us include:

  • Rattling, buzzing or grinding noises
  • An error code or flashing light on the unit
  • Ice forming on the indoor unit or pipes

If the display shows a code, write it down: it helps narrow down the fault.

What your quote should include

  • Exactly what the price includes, from supply and fitting to commissioning
  • Whether the quote is a fixed price
  • Whether anyone has checked the property or the system first
