Air conditioning repair around Cobham
About 70% of homes in the Cobham area date from 1945 to 1972, according to the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures, and about 89% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. If the outdoor unit is high up or behind a locked gate, mention it when you book. The middle of Cobham is part of the Cobham Village Conservation Area. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 26 within half a mile of the centre, such as Parish Church of St Mary Magdalene (grade I). If a repair turns into a replacement on a listed building or in a conservation area, we check the planning position before changing the outdoor unit.
The rating label on the unit gives the model number, which helps us bring the right parts. If a system fails at a school such as Cobham Primary School, our 24/7 line takes the call, and planned repairs can wait for the holidays.

Air conditioning repair in Cobham
We treat a faulty system the way a doctor treats a patient: find the cause, put it right and check it’s healthy before we leave. Guessing is expensive, and topping up refrigerant on a system with a blocked filter fixes nothing. If you are dealing with drips from the indoor unit and a noisy indoor or outdoor unit, we can sort it out.
Outdoor units in a place like Cobham can be near hedges and fields, and a coil clogged with leaves or seeds is a common cause of weak cooling.
Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we set them out on your quote. Each brand sets its own conditions, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

Why act early in Cobham
A struggling system costs more to run. A dirty coil, a blocked filter or a low refrigerant charge all make the system work harder for less cooling and the extra work wears the parts faster. Dealing with it now is typically simpler than a breakdown later.
Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.
Why us?
- Warranty terms set out brand by brand
- MCS certified for heat pumps
- F-Gas certified company
- NICEIC approved electrical contractors
The process
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes anything from an hour or so to a full day, depending on the fault and the parts. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Cobham.
- First, a few questions by phone or email about the brand, the fault and anything shown on the controller.
- The engineer reads the fault codes and checks the electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant circuit.
- You get a plain explanation of the fault and a fixed price for putting it right.
- With your agreement the part is replaced or the fault put right, and refrigerant work goes in the F-Gas log.
- We run the system, check it’s working properly and note anything else that needs attention.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property
- Clear access to the fuse board
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process

FAQs for Cobham
Do you cover Cobham for air conditioning repair?
Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Cobham is part of that. Tell us a little about the job and we will take it from there.
Will you come out to Cobham?
Yes. Cobham is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.
Why does my air conditioning run but not cool?
Common causes are a blocked filter, the wrong mode or set temperature, an outdoor unit that can’t breathe, a failed sensor or board, or low refrigerant from a leak. Check the filter and the settings first, and if that doesn’t fix it, phone us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Which accreditations do you hold?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is a legal requirement, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.
What can I do with an old R22 system?
R22 is an ozone-depleting refrigerant, and new R22 can’t be used for servicing. Some non-refrigerant faults can be repaired if parts are available, but a refrigerant leak usually means replacement. We will set out the options and quote for a replacement where it makes sense.
For landlords and property managers
For anyone managing more than one building, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Each property gets its own records, so the files stay tidy.
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is, and we can work for either side.
Looking after it afterwards
A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Don’t keep resetting a breaker that trips
- Check the settings and the remote’s batteries first
- Turn it off and let ice clear before the visit
If parts are needed, we tell you what’s on order and book the return visit with you. Parts lead times depend on the supplier, so we keep you posted.
Sensible use helps. Choose the right mode and a moderate set temperature, and keep doors and windows closed while it runs and the system does not have to work as hard.
From one of our customers
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
