Air conditioning across TN24: what to expect

Any installation we do in TN24 follows the same process as everywhere else we work: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. You know the price before we start and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, ceiling cassettes and ducted systems, and people most often call us about fans and portables that don’t keep up and a room that’s unbearable on warm days.

You don’t need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we have done.

  1. First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
  2. We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

What you’ll pay

No two properties are the same, so we price each one individually. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all play a part.

What you get with us

  • Clear warranty information from the manufacturer
  • Electrical work covered by our NICEIC approval
  • Covering London and the South East
  • Every job looked at before it’s priced

How to get a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Air conditioning across TN24

In TN24, we install in places such as Ashford, Kennington and Godinton and well beyond. Every place on our TN24 list (10 in all) is covered.

Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work.

Kennington: If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St Mary, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. Godinton House (roughly 2.3 miles west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.

Owner checks or an engineer?

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Why deal with it now?

For a home or business in TN24, booking the survey now gives time to plan. The installation takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system, and the date is agreed with you once you’re happy with the quote.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How VAT is shown, and which rate applies
  • Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
  • What records you get at the end
  • The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted

Common problems we fix in TN24

Some people come to us for heating rather than cooling. Direct electric heaters convert electricity into heat one for one, while an air-to-air heat pump moves heat from outside, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. That’s how most modern split systems work.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A portable unit with a hose out of the window
  • An old system that needs replacing
  • Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
  • Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff

Looking after it afterwards

To keep the system working properly:

  • Report drips, noises or error codes straight away
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
  • Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
  • Book an annual service

The filters are the one part you’ll look after yourself, so we show you how. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, or as the manual recommends, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.

Have the system serviced once a year. A service cleans what you can’t reach and picks up faults before they stop the system, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.

TN24 questions

How long does it take to fit air conditioning?

Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer, and we tell you how long on the quote.

Will you need to do electrical work?

Typically, yes. The fuse board is checked on the survey, and any electrical work goes on the quote and we install and certify the circuit as NICEIC approved contractors.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well?

Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. Ask to see proof before booking anyone and we’ll gladly show you ours.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. We always look before we price, either on a site survey or from photos and details for simple jobs. Then you get a fixed-price quote.

Is air conditioning possible in a flat?

It depends on the building and the lease. An outdoor unit can sometimes go on a balcony, roof or rear wall, with consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. You get a written record of each visit, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
