About air conditioning in CO13
Single-room systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, while a two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation are all included, with commercial and VRF systems priced after a survey. The work covers VRF systems, wall-mounted split systems and ceiling cassettes, and the jobs we see most are an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers and not knowing which system, size or brand to choose.
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
How we quote
A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. You’ll have a fixed price before any work starts, and the quote sets out the VAT.
Why choose AirCon Doctor
- Covering London and the South East
- Every job looked at before it’s priced
- Fixed-price quotes after a survey or pictures
- A reply the same working day
How to get a quote
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.
Near you in Kirby Cross
In Kirby Cross, that means homes and buildings near Tendring Technology College, St Mary Magdalene and The Ship pub, among other places. You’ll also find Frinton Park (0.6 miles east) and Frinton-on-Sea Primary School (under half a mile south). There’s a railway station in Kirby Cross itself: Frinton-On-Sea station. For a walk, there’s Great Holland Pits.
Air conditioning across CO13: local notes
Across CO13, from Walton-on-the-Naze, Kirby Cross and Frinton-on-Sea to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
Enquiries from CO13 get a reply on the working day they arrive. For a breakdown, use the 24/7 line. CO13 includes coastal places, where salt in the air speeds up corrosion of outdoor coils and fixings. Outdoor unit position and regular servicing both help near the sea.
Kirby Cross: Living close to St Mary Magdalene? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Plenty of people near Frinton-On-Sea station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.
How we price air conditioning
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- A single visit or a regular plan
- The pipe route between the units
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered, and you’ll get one fixed price.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Where the property is and what kind of building it is
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
- A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.
Honest limits
We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
Looking after it afterwards
A little care keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
We clear up before we go: sheets removed, packaging cleared up and pipe holes sealed. Pipework outside is covered in trunking or insulated and neatly fixed as agreed on the survey.
Report drips, noises or error codes early. Water from the indoor unit, a new rattle or a code on the display typically means something needs attention and catching it early keeps the repair small.
Safe owner checks
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
CO13: your questions answered
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, either on a site survey or from pictures and details for simple jobs. A fixed-price quote follows.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
How soon will you get back to me?
On the same working day you contact us. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Do you work on all makes?
We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. You will typically need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route and the lease will say. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
Companies working on equipment that contains F gas must be certified by an approved body, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
