Need air source heat pumps in Skittle Green?

Signs you need air source heat pumps in Skittle Green

Some people want to move away from burning fossil fuels at home. With a heat pump, the heat comes from the air outside and the system runs on electricity, which is why it fits that aim.

If any of these sounds familiar, it’s worth a diagnosis:

  • Not knowing whether a grant applies
  • Radiators that may be too small for a heat pump
  • No space for a hot water cylinder

If your home is one of the older properties near Church of the Holy Trinity, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

Our hiring checklist

How we handle air source heat pumps in Skittle Green

In England, an air source heat pump on a house can often go in under permitted development rights. Conditions include a maximum outdoor unit size of 1.5 m³, compliance with MCS 020(a), use for more than cooling alone and a site outside the curtilage of a listed building. We look at the planning position for your home during the survey. Typical jobs include finding a place for the outdoor unit and moving away from fossil-fuel heating, on air-to-water heat pumps, radiator systems and air-to-air heat pumps.

If your home in or near Skittle Green is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump.

Think of the paperwork as the system’s health record: a dated account of the work and the readings we took. It makes the next visit quicker and any warranty question simpler, so keep it safe.

Skittle Green questions

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Skittle Green?

Skittle Green is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. The grant is £7,500 for an air source (air-to-water) heat pump and £2,500 for an air-to-air system that replaces the existing fossil-fuel heating. The installer applies, and we are MCS certified.

Is Skittle Green within the area you cover?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

What does F-Gas certified mean?

Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. It’s worth checking before booking, and we’re happy to show ours.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes, always. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

What we do, step by step

We keep the work area tidy as we go, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. On site, it takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Visits to Skittle Green are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We talk through your home, your current heating and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
  3. A fixed-price quote follows, setting out the system, any grant that applies and the VAT.
  4. We fit the outdoor unit and connect it to the heating, hot water and controls.
  5. We commission the heat pump, complete the MCS paperwork and talk you through the controls.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking and loading
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow

Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few pictures, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
