Air source heat pumps for Iver

Leave it or put it right?

From 1 April 2027, VAT on heat pumps in homes rises from 0% to 5%. If you are thinking about a heat pump, that date is worth knowing alongside your own plans for the property. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.

Putting several jobs into one visit can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every unit or room you need covered and we’ll price it together.

Air source heat pumps in Iver, done properly

Until 31 March 2027, a heat pump installed in residential accommodation carries 0% VAT, with 5% from 1 April 2027. This is HMRC’s energy-saving materials relief, which applies to homes rather than businesses, and for air-to-air systems we confirm the VAT on your quote. Please treat this as general information rather than tax advice. Common call-outs are for wanting to stop using oil, LPG or gas for heating and an oil, LPG or gas boiler near the end of its life, across air-to-water heat pumps, radiator systems and hot water cylinders.

In a place like Iver, some homes are listed, and permitted development does not cover listed buildings, so consent comes first.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: commissioning details for an installation, a fault and repair note for a repair, or a record of the service. File it with the manual so it’s to hand next time.

What a heat pump looks like in Iver

Church of St Peter, listed at grade I, is one of roughly 18 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Iver’s centre. For a heat pump, permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, and in a conservation area the outdoor unit cannot go on a wall or roof facing a road, so we check with Buckinghamshire council, normally the planning authority here where needed. About 30% of homes in Iver and the neighbourhoods around it were built between the wars, according to VOA council tax data, and about 65% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. Homes of that age often have cavity walls that may or may not be insulated, which the survey checks. Houses typically have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder.

For a home near Iver station, the survey looks at whether an air-to-water or air-to-air heat pump suits better. Older homes near Church of St Peter may need extra checks for planning and heat loss before a heat pump is designed.

How the visit works

Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. The visit takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. For a place like Iver, the timing is set with you and the travel is our side of the planning.

  1. Step one is understanding the house, how it’s heated today and what you’d like to change.
  2. On the visit we calculate what every room loses on a cold day, then check the radiators, room for a cylinder and outdoor unit options.
  3. A fixed-price quote follows, setting out the system, any grant that applies and the VAT.
  4. We fit the outdoor unit and connect it to the heating, hot water and controls.
  5. We commission the heat pump, complete the MCS paperwork and talk you through the controls.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process

How to get a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Advice

When it’s something else

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Any gas work on the existing boiler
  • Promising eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
  • Getting planning permission or listed building consent on your behalf

If in doubt, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Where we work

  • Air-to-water heat pumps
  • Underfloor heating
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Hot water cylinders
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Radiator systems

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo of the display helps even more.

Common questions in Iver

Do you cover smaller places like Iver?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Is the heat pump grant available in Iver?

Iver is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and isn’t an add-on to a boiler. The installer applies, and we are MCS certified.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size across London and the South East. Let us know who the records should go to.

Do I need new radiators for a heat pump?

The heat loss survey answers that, room by room. Where a radiator is already large enough, it stays, and any that need upsizing are set out in the quote.

What warranty do I get?

It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. For instance, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.

How soon will you get back to me?

You will hear from us the same working day. For a breakdown that can’t wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.
