Air source heat pumps near Eastergate

About our air source heat pumps in Eastergate

An air-to-water heat pump costs £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before the grant. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can provide £7,500 towards an eligible air-to-water system in England and Wales, and as the installer we apply for it on your behalf. Eligibility depends on the property, so we confirm it before anything is agreed. We’re often asked to deal with deciding on the outdoor unit position and not knowing whether a grant applies, on air-to-water heat pumps, underfloor heating and homes heated by oil, LPG or gas.

Space for an outdoor unit is rarely an issue near Eastergate, so the design focuses on heat loss and radiators.

Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. Keep it with the system’s paperwork so it’s to hand next time.

When it’s something else

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Disconnecting or servicing a gas boiler
  • Promising eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
  • Tax rulings, which only HMRC can give

If you’re not sure, just call us on 07833 053749 and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What the work covers

  • Air-to-water heat pumps
  • Hot water cylinders
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Underfloor heating
  • Radiator systems

What we do, step by step

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it doesn’t catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. We plan the trip to Eastergate around you.

  1. It starts with a conversation about the home, the existing heating and your plans.
  2. A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
  3. A fixed-price quote follows, setting out the system, any grant that applies and the VAT.
  4. We fit the outdoor unit and connect it to the heating, hot water and controls.
  5. Commissioning, MCS certification and a handover of the controls finish the job.

Before we arrive

  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Getting a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Advice

Heat pumps in Eastergate: local notes

About 35% of homes in the Eastergate area have been built since 2000, according to the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures, and the 2021 Census found about 71% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Better insulated, newer homes are often a good match for a heat pump. Detached and semi-detached houses typically have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder. The Eastergate (Church Lane) and Eastergate (Square) Conservation Area is within about a third of a mile of the centre of Eastergate. On the National Heritage List, around 23 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Eastergate; The Parish Church of St George (grade II*) is one. So the heat pump survey asks two extra questions here: is the home listed, and is it inside a conservation area?

With Goodwood House about 4.2 miles north-west, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump. Live in one of the older houses around St George's Church? Expect the survey to look closely at heat loss and at the building’s planning status.

What the work involves, system by system

Hot water cylinders

An older cylinder may not suit a heat pump and we tell you if it needs replacing.

Air-to-water heat pumps

Flow temperatures are lower than with a typical boiler, which is why radiator sizing is part of the survey.

Your questions about air source heat pumps in Eastergate

Is Eastergate within the area you cover?

Yes. Eastergate is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in Eastergate?

Eastergate is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.

Are you F-Gas certified?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

How much time does a heat pump install need?

It takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. The cylinder, the radiators and the pipework make the biggest difference, and we confirm the timing with your quote.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size in Eastergate and across West Sussex. Let us know who the records should go to.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

From one of our customers

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
