Air source heat pumps near Adversane

Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in Adversane

Air source heat pumps collect heat from outdoor air and bring it inside, using electricity to drive the process. The technology is close to air conditioning, which is why we install both, and air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes simply called air conditioning. Typical jobs include checking eligibility for a heat pump grant and choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air, on hot water cylinders, underfloor heating and radiator systems.

If your home in or near Adversane is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump.

Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. Keep it with the system’s paperwork, because it helps with any later warranty question.

The process

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. On the day, both are in the same hands. The work takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. Photos of the room and the outside of the property help us plan a visit to Adversane.

  1. It starts with a conversation about the home, the existing heating and your plans.
  2. A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
  3. You get a fixed-price quote, with any grant you are eligible for and the VAT explained.
  4. Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
  5. The system is commissioned and registered under MCS, and we show you how to use it.

Before we arrive

  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit

Heat pumps in Adversane: local notes

The Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures show about 43% of homes across Adversane and its surrounding area were built in 2000 or later, and about 67% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. Newer homes normally lose less heat, which tends to suit a heat pump well. Houses usually have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder.

With Old Place Manor about 3.2 miles south-west, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump. A heat loss calculation decides the size of heat pump your home needs.

Why it’s worth doing now in Adversane

A sudden boiler failure rarely leaves room to plan a heat pump properly. Planning ahead gives time for the heat loss survey, the design and the grant application while the old heating still works. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.

Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.

Why us?

After we have gone

After the visit, a few habits help:

  • File the MCS certificate safely
  • Know the servicing conditions in your warranty
  • Book a yearly service

Where we applied for a Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, we keep you informed through the process, as the installer applies for it.

Keep insulation and draught-proofing in good order because it reduces the heat the system needs to supply.

Questions from Adversane

Will a heat pump in Adversane need planning permission?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. The centre of Adversane is in the Adversane Conservation Area. The permitted development rules for heat pumps leave out listed buildings and stop outdoor units going on road-facing walls or roofs in conservation areas. Anything outside the rules needs an application, and we raise it with the local planning authority (for Adversane, typically Horsham council) first.

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Adversane?

Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Adversane, if they qualify. Air-to-water and ground source systems attract £7,500. Air-to-air gets £2,500, but only where it takes over from fossil-fuel heating and covers the whole home’s heating demand. The installer applies, and we are MCS certified.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for problems that can’t wait for a planned visit. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.

What’s the price of a heat pump installation?

For air-to-water, the price is £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes) before any grant. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers £7,500 to eligible homes in England and Wales, and we confirm eligibility before you commit.

What does F-Gas certified mean?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. Where a building is let or managed, the lease or contract should make clear who looks after the system, and we can work for either side.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too in Adversane and across West Sussex. Work can be phased by floor, zone or building to keep disruption down.

A customer’s words

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
