Commercial air conditioning in Ramsey, done properly
Businesses can’t always stop for an installation. Work can be done in the evening, at weekends or in phases so disruption is kept down. The programme is agreed before any work starts. If the problem is ageing air conditioning that keeps breaking down and server rooms running too warm, we can help.
For a business near Ramsey, outdoor units typically have room at the back of the building, out of sight and away from neighbours.
Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Different systems, different jobs
Ceiling cassettes
Only the face of the cassette is visible for a neat finish.
Hotels and schools
Hotel bedrooms need individual control and quiet running and installation has to be planned around occupancy. Phased installation keeps rooms available.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Ramsey
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we are happy to deal with whoever it is.
If you look after several properties, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Each property gets its own records, so each one has its own history.
Commercial air conditioning around Ramsey
Ramsey is within about 1 mile of the coast. Salt air shortens the life of unprotected outdoor coils, so coastal commercial systems need the right kit and regular servicing. The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 4 care, childcare and hospital premises in and around Ramsey, up to about a mile and a half out. Restaurants, hotels, schools and care settings each need cooling designed for their hours and heat loads.
Churches and halls such as Parish Church of St Michael are often used a few hours at a time, which suits a system that heats or cools a space quickly, once consents are in place. For a school like Harwich and Dovercourt High School, air conditioning work is best done out of term.
Ramsey is about 2 miles west of Harwich, in Essex. Properties in Ramsey get the same service as everywhere we cover: diagnosis first, a fixed price and proper paperwork when we’ve finished. We cover 644 places across Essex, from busy centres to quieter spots. For properties nearby, see our London page (63 miles or so).
The Street, Main Road and Windmill View and the roads off them are all inside our area. We work across the CO12 postcode area for commercial air conditioning and the roads nearby. What happens on the day
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. The visit takes anything from a day or two for a small office to several weeks of phased work on a large building. Rural lanes and tight entrances are worth mentioning before a visit to Ramsey.
- First comes a site survey of the building, its occupancy and the heat it has to deal with.
- We send a fixed-price quote showing the system, the unit positions and how the work will be phased.
- The work is planned around your opening hours, with out-of-hours or phased work where it helps.
- The system goes in, from units and pipework to drainage, wiring and controls.
- Commissioning, F-gas records and a handover of the controls finish the job.
Before we arrive
- Let us know where we can park and unload
- Name a contact who can meet us at the agreed time
- Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need

Ramsey: your questions answered
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Ramsey?
It depends on the property. Central Ramsey is a short walk from the Ramsey Conservation Area. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with Tendring council, which is normally the planning authority for Ramsey.
Will you come out to Ramsey?
Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.
Do you protect the property while you work?
Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before we start, and the area is kept tidy throughout. At the end, we clear up and show you what we’ve done.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Every visit is recorded, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.
Can you install out of hours?
Yes, timing is agreed to suit you. Every type of building has its own pattern, and we plan for them.

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
