Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Matching

Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain, all before the price is fixed. Need an air conditioning installer for Matching? We are based in East Grinstead and cover London and the South East, with a fixed-price quote before any work starts.

The outdoor unit position is the biggest single decision: airflow, noise towards neighbours, pipe length and access for servicing all count.

Homes around Matching normally have room outside for an outdoor unit. The questions are more often the age of the walls, the electrics and how far the pipes need to run.

Refrigerant work is written up in the F-Gas records: the work carried out, the refrigerant involved and the quantities. Keep the records with the manual and the warranty documents, as a manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.

For landlords and property managers

Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Where a tenant occupies the property but the landlord owns the system, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the records to whoever needs them.

What we do, step by step

Each visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, protect the area, do the work, test what we have done and talk you through it. On site, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. Photos of the existing unit help with repairs and servicing in Matching.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

Before we arrive

  • Clear access to the fuse board
  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property

Why it’s worth doing now in Matching

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant cannot use F gases with a GWP above 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you’re not sure what’s needed, call 07833 053749 for straight advice and a fixed price.

Matching: your questions answered

Is Matching in your area for air conditioning?

Yes, Matching is within the area we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Matching?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The half-mile around the middle of Matching holds about 13 listed buildings and structures. Put simply: reversible systems on houses can be permitted development, cooling-only ones cannot, listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit outdoor units facing a road. When your property needs a decision, we contact the local planning authority (for Matching, normally Epping Forest council).

Do I need a new electrical circuit?

Most of the time, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

Allow anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.

Where does the outdoor unit go?

We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.

Are you F-Gas certified?

F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, and we are Checkatrade members. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.

What an install looks like in Matching

About 53% of homes in Matching and the neighbourhoods around it have been built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax records. Newer homes normally have cavity walls and loft space that make pipe runs easier, though some estates have planning conditions or covenants worth checking.

About 4.1 miles north-east stands Barrington Hall. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Living close to Parish Church of St Mary? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.

Keeping the system healthy

A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • Report drips, noises or error codes straight away
  • Book an annual service
  • File the paperwork with the manual

An annual service keeps the system running efficiently, and some manufacturers make servicing a warranty condition. We can remind you when it’s due, so it doesn’t get forgotten.

Keep the outdoor unit clear. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.

From one of our customers

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
