Keeping systems in Westwell running
The last census (2021) found about 78% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Access to the outdoor unit is the one detail that most changes how a visit is planned. The centre of Westwell lies within a conservation area. On the National Heritage List, around 15 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Westwell; Church of St Mary (grade I) is one. For most visits that makes no difference. It only comes up when an outdoor unit has to be replaced on a protected building.
Spring is a good time for a service, before the system is needed for cooling. Site managers at schools like The Hayesbrook School can have the site’s units serviced during a holiday.

Air conditioning servicing in Westwell, done properly
Every hour, an indoor unit draws the room’s air through its filter and over its coil again and again. Dust, fluff and anything else in the air ends up on those parts. Servicing removes it, letting air pass through the unit properly and the condensate drain away. The work covers multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, and common reasons people get in touch are smells coming from the indoor unit and condensate leaking into the room.
Most systems around Westwell need servicing once a year, ideally in spring before the warm weather.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. File it with the manual, because it helps with any later warranty question.

What air conditioning servicing can’t fix
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that won’t help, so these are the things it will not cover:
- Pipework or drainage that was badly installed in the first place
- A unit that was undersized when it was chosen
- A failed compressor, fan motor or circuit board, which needs a repair
Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.
What the work covers
- Wall-mounted split systems
- Multi-split systems
- VRF systems
- Ceiling cassettes
- Air-to-air heat pumps
- Ducted systems
How the visit works
The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, which takes anything from an hour for a simple split system to most of a day for a larger installation. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Westwell.
- A date is fixed and the service price confirmed in advance.
- Before any cleaning, the system is run so we can see how it behaves.
- Then the cleaning: filters, coils, fan and the drain line.
- Electrical and refrigerant checks follow, including a leak check if the rules require one.
- It’s run once more to confirm all is well, and the record is left with you.
Before we arrive
- Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
- Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work

Advice
Pricing air conditioning servicing in Westwell
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will go through it with you.
What to send for a quote
A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
- Any error code or flashing light on the display
Some jobs can be priced from photos, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.
Rented and managed buildings
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we are happy to deal with whoever it is.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the agreement for who looks after the system. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.
Other services in Westwell
Westwell: your questions answered
Will you come out to Westwell?
Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Does my air con in Westwell need a yearly service?
For most homes, once a year. Some manufacturers’ warranty terms ask for regular servicing, so it’s worth keeping the records.
What accreditations do you have?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.
Do you protect the property while you work?
We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. It’s worth checking before booking and we’ll gladly show you ours.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes, always. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need, and the quote is based on that.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.
From one of our customers
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
