Air conditioning servicing for Sonning

Air conditioning servicing for homes and businesses in Sonning

Servicing doesn’t mean topping up refrigerant. The refrigerant circuit is sealed, so a system that is short of gas has a leak somewhere. If the performance checks point to a leak, we explain the options for finding and fixing it rather than just topping up. The work covers multi-split systems, VRF systems and wall-mounted split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are F-gas leak checks falling due and a unit showing a fault code.

We plan the trip to Sonning and can service more than one unit in one visit.

Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, and we’re happy to talk you through them.

When it’s something else

Air conditioning servicing cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. It won’t put right:

  • Heat gains the system was never sized for
  • Parts that have failed and need replacing
  • A system short of gas because of a leak

Not sure which it is? You can ring 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on in Sonning

  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Multi-split systems
  • VRF systems
  • Ducted systems

Different systems, different jobs

Wall-mounted, ducted and cassette units

Cassette units are set into the ceiling and blow air in several directions. We drop the grille to clean the filters and check the condensate pump.

Refrigerant performance and leak checks

To find tCO2e, multiply the kg of refrigerant by its GWP and divide by 1,000. As an example, 3 kg of R32 comes to about 2.0 tCO2e, while 3 kg of R410A is about 6.3 tCO2e. We check the label on your system and tell you where it sits.

What a service looks like in Sonning

Sonning’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. In the mile around Sonning’s centre, 2 conservation areas have been designated. The Bull Hotel, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 46 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Sonning’s centre. Day-to-day work on an existing system isn’t affected; a replacement outdoor unit on a protected building might be. VOA council tax data date about 53% of homes in the Sonning area to the post-war years, 1945 to 1972, and about 78% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Wall bracket, ground pad or flat roof: knowing where the outdoor unit is saves time on the day.

Schools such as Sonning Church of England Primary School can book servicing for half term or the summer break, when rooms are empty. A service once a year suits most home systems, and some business systems need more.

FAQs for Sonning

Does my air con in Sonning need a yearly service?

Typically once a year for homes, more often for busy business systems. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.

Do you cover smaller places like Sonning?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.

Is a regas part of an air conditioning service?

Not as a routine part of the service. If a system has lost refrigerant, it has leaked from somewhere. We check the refrigerant performance, and if we suspect a leak we explain how it can be found and repaired.

How soon will you get back to me?

We reply to enquiries the same working day. For a breakdown that cannot wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

What we do, step by step

Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. It takes anything from an hour for a simple split system to most of a day for a larger installation, and we clear up before we go. Photos of the room and the outside of the property help us plan a visit to Sonning.

  1. When you book, we ask what make it is, how many rooms it serves and whether anything seems wrong.
  2. The engineer switches the system on and checks how it behaves before taking anything apart.
  3. We clean the filters and coils and make sure the condensate drains away.
  4. Temperatures and pressures tell us how the refrigerant circuit is doing, alongside checks on the wiring and controls.
  5. You get a service record, with anything that needs attention explained.

Before we arrive

  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need

Getting a price

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
